I still need to make it more performant and apply this system across the whole game, but I like the current direction :)

22.02.2026 10:58 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Conceptually fine, but my preference would be a simpler repeating shader effect/animation or the like. Otherwise my pedant eye is drawn to anomalous things like this where the border is occasionally missing/different.
22.02.2026 10:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Hmm maybe the border is there already but it's barely noticeable. Thicker/darker

Prefer blue to green for sure, but not sure what these artifacts are?
Personal preference, but larger fonts, or better yet the ability to specify (maybe you do this alrdy) would help in my mind, and maybe a 1px thick dark grey border on all fronts to add a bit more contrast?
Never understood this argument, unless your promoting people share their save games with each other? If not, why care?

At it's core, my job to date has been to solve novel problems, and by extension through solving them, learn something new that helps me solve more novel problems.
The issue is solving problems using AI removes the 'learning something new' that ensures self development and by extension satisfaction.
To be clear also, this all assumes that AI even makes your job more efficient, which in many cases it doesn't, and ignores the general depressive nature of even having to use it for work.
Anyway just a rant that's been brewing for a while. Looking forward to my new job!
This seems obvious to me, but everyone can't benefit from the same pool. It's been unspoken for a long time, just an expectation that almost felt self inflicted, but having it said out loud really just confirmed "I'm not imagining this" and quitting is the right decision.

The problem is, if the client believes you're supposed to be more efficient because of AI, and expects that as part of BAU, and then your boss is expecting to realise even more on-top, where is this extra efficiency coming from?
The drive to realise the benefits of AI just burns out your staff.
And to be clear, the expectation consultants bill more than 100% i.e parallel projects, is not uncommon. It's a silent reality that clients are (usually) unaware of, and in my 20s one I did regularly. But this new expectation is on top of that. THAT's the reality of what AI is doing

So I'm resigning from being a data/automation consultant of ten odd years in a couple weeks for several reasons, but was reminded of one the other day when I heard "a criteria for success this year is to increase revenue 20% without hiring anyone".
We bill by the hour... so...how exactly?
Ah yes, ~59% of people (metacritic) liked it, therefore it is 'universally hated'.
Suddenly the 'Biden stole the election' logic makes sense -.-
Oh wait ignore me, it's individual debugger tabs I was trying to make float, the debugger tab itself floats fine!
16.02.2026 08:51 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Can we please not unreal-engine everything so hard? We are not supposed to be rendering the next Marvel movie in real time when playing a LEGO game.

My partner would often tell me how vile GTA was when she saw me playing, then I got her to play and she was actively running down pedestrians while giggling within half an hour.
Ngl I sleep with one eye open now.
Have a Happy Vamlumtimes to those who celebrate.

Sometimes I just do weird stuff in VR just to see if I can. This was all done in one continuous shot.

Like it's a beautiful clip, and the vertex animations are on point, but the lighting in this clip is just??? and with the only explanation being "I use volume fog and SSAO. I don't use GI, SSR, probes or lightmaps"???? How! Teach me!

I love seeing new stuff and trying to figure out how it's achieved, but this has me baffled.
How do you have an object cast a soft shadow directly down when viewed from one angle, but look like a, idk reflected shadow? from another. And apparently without GI/SSR/Lightmaps
I took charge by seeing a psychologist and getting help, which I continue to do and it does help. But it's a slow process and one I'm beginning to accept may not have a perfect answer. More a coping mechanisms and introspection.

09.02.2026 13:55 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Nor can I will myself into being interested in something I am now arbitrarily not interested in. I can force myself to do it easily enough, but devoid of previous enjoyment. Knowing it's something I like or even love doing doesn't change that, it just makes me sad I don't enjoy it.

Unfortunately no amount of will seems to stop me having anxiety spikes as I have nfi what causes them in the first place. I can be doing something completely benign, then wham. Thanks body.
Not something I ever had to deal with till my thirties, but has been a running theme for some years now -.-
Love this! People bagged me out, but I did what the fuck I wanted 😂.
Baller.
