Further reforms to the Contracts for Difference scheme for Allocation Round 7 We're seeking views on potential changes for Allocation Round 7 (AR7), due to open in summer 2025, and providing policy updates.

We’re consulting on potential reforms to the CfD for the next renewables allocation round, later this year - among them, longer contracts as we as some other new parameters.

These are some of the most important changes that we can implement for the 2030 clean power mix.

Clean power transitions rest on consumers shifting energy choices, e.g. how & when they use electricity to match supply from renewables and to avoid overwhelming the grid⚡

Great to see this put together quickly - as is needed for a pacy switch away from gas

Government has experienced bumps and missteps in first 6 months, for sure, but plenty of serious policy activity, manifested publicly, like this. (Whether one happens to agree with it or not on specifics.)

You can probably imagine the nature of some of my recent private correspondence there.
