8.8/10 Well rounded. Good pacing. Plot well supported. Not a happy ending but a solid one.

03.08.2025 04:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Also it's been a heavy movie weekend. A lot of subject matter on grief. Might have to watch some lighter stuff to balance it out.
03.08.2025 04:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A24 does it again. This is gooood. I'm pretty desensitized to horror films. I can usually get my mind's eye to see the effects and it helps me not to see it as icky or horrifying. But a couple scenes I gasped a bit so that's at least an A horror film in my book.

#nowwatching Bring Her Back - it was advertised as being really scary
๐โ๏ธ but me I'm not so easily scared. But some of thr A24 films have give me some chills. We shall see lol
I really liked Adam Scott in Severance, I forgot how unlikable he is in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
02.08.2025 06:49 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Also thanks to bluesky for beating me over the head with promotional posts about this movie or I might not have known about it.
02.08.2025 00:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A beautiful if at times heavy watch. 9/10. (That dance scene could have been a little shorter but wonderfully done and poetic to the theme of the film)
02.08.2025 00:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I know some folks don't like the long monologues/dialogues that Flanagan's works have but it works super well here. Having dealt with recent death of a loved one it felt like a nice way to work through some of that and also bring some light to my own existentialism.
02.08.2025 00:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The first act (or third rather) opens with a deep dread that I sometimes feel and hit me deeply, almost hard to watch because I related so much to the fear the characters had. But as the movie goes on, it feels comforting and caring. Cherished moments feel kismet and guiding.
02.08.2025 00:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Okay after watching this and processing this a bit I'm ready to share my thoughts.
I love how Flanagan handles existentialism and grief. While not wholly horror which is expected from both the author and director. This film is wholesome.

A movie I've actually been interested in seeing.
Uh that was terrible haha. The constant product placements were just really awful.

I remember I tried to watch this closer to when it came out and I just thought it was a cheese factory. I'll try again since I'm having a quiet day
Has Snyder ever directed a horror film? Zod's message scene is wonderfully horror coded

I remember seeing this much closer to when it initially released. I remembered liking it but now I can barely remember the details of it.

#nowwatching I'm Your Venus
I'm almost finished with it but it is such a touching and raw and beautiful documentary honoring Venus and celebrating trans people. The blending of her chosen family and the family she grew up with was so wonderful. A must watch!

More scifi, fun time loops shenanigans.

One thing about me, I'm a Nolan fan and his films bring me a little bit of comfort every rewatch

A lot of scifi but really enjoyed Sinners!
#nowwatching Pacific Rim. I'm gonna be honest I know I've seen this. I don't remember a single thing from this.
Charlie Hunnam is really trying to have an American accent. He's trying his best!

On the projector!
I really wish I got to see it in IMAX, esp the aspect ratio changes. The musiv scene was so captivating and while I'm white I still think it captured how music is a vehicle of expression of culture. It's truly a deep art form. And then captured so well in a movie.

Heard lots of good things. I wanted to see in theaters but streaming will have to do!
#nowwatching White Lotus Season 3
I really enjoyed the first two seasons. Are we in the new Golden Era of HBO? Was Succession or Righteous Gemstones the second wave?
Applause for this. I also believe Covenant also is in this niche but it came out 2 years before Twilight.
