Yall ever put on a movie you think is new to you but as you watch it you realize you've seen it.
#NowWatching Dark Places
Streaming on Tubi
#NowWatching Sinister 2
Not because it's good but because it really highlights James in the sequel!
Also I forgot he was in the Black Phone as well which also felt like it was trying to be Sinister.
I'm def gonna fire it up after this! It's been so long since I've watched the Wire. I saw some screen caps from it and I guess seeing him older it didn't click.
Once I finish the Sopranos I'll definitely have to rewatch it next.
Rest in peace James Ransone.
This one sucks. There's movies I don't like and his singular character makes it way more bearable. But with the already great shows and movies he was great!
I'll be watching It: Chapter 2 tonight. I didn't see Generation Kill but I hear it's good too.
#JustWatched Stand by Me
Always a classic!!
Also to note I did finish Welcome to Derry. I'll tack on to this thread later. I have thoughts!

#JustWatched Princess Bride at movie night. A first watch for me.
I know surprising for a millenial but I just hadn't seen it and missed the wave when it was popular.
Idk if it's a top 10 movie but I thought it was cute and light watch in spite of things recently.
RIP Rob Reiner

I'm excited for Pennywise origin story. Not just because of Bill but to just see more of real Pennywise and not It's form of Pennywise.
I've heard a bit online that there might be further back history in the seasons to come. Very curious how they'll flesh it out.

I guess I'll watch another Fincher film. Twist my arm.
Also to note I have the book!
VHS tape of Seven
#JustWatched my VHS copy of Seven
It's fuzzy, you can see the scan lines and little marks. It's degraded and desaturated. Just as god intended this film to be viewed.
#NowWatching Welcome to Derry S1E6
Excited for post Pennywise rest of the season.
Sorry for lack of posts I've been busy with friendsgivings this week. Cooked some sides for each. If I was smart I would have done them Friday and just brought them. Lol
But the acting, the character and set design was pretty good. Solid 7 for me.
Midnight Club - YA plots really aren't my jam but I don't want to give it a bad rating because I can't relate to it. Plus I haven't finished it. Someday I'll give it a fair shot.
I felt like the B plot of the lover ghosts was meh. Typical tragic romance. 8.6/10
House of Usher - I think it was fun, if a little disjointed and the narrative parts felt unnecessary at times, might have been better as an ending. The modernization felt corny in like 2 episodes
The parents long dialogue at the end is heart wrenching esp after my mom passed. Sometimes the C (the Dudleys) plot gets forgotten about at times but it's forgivable. 9.3/10
Bly Manor - Lesbian ghost ending. A winner for me. It gets a little slow at times but the characters and actor are great.
The acting was also really superb. The creature had a great design. Just ughhh I wish I could wipe my brain and watch it again. 9.7/10
Hill House - devastating at times, wonderful horror notes, great direction. Took a classic and really made it his own. Luke's character kills me.
To flesh out my thoughts:
Midnight Mass - a gorgeous storytelling series. The twist was done really nicely. The ending felt final and closed nicely. The tones of religion get a little over my head as I grew up agnostic. I personally love the Flanagan long monologues. Not everyone does.
#Rewatching Bly Manor because idk
I love the Flanagan series(es?) but here's my definitive ranking:
1. Midnight Mass
2. Haunting of Hill House
3. Haunting of Bly Manor
4. Fall of the House of Usher
I didn't finish Midnight Club because YA fiction gets lost on me. So I won't rank it til it's done
Of course I give up and he's in this episode. Bill my beloved 🥰

So I'm feeling like we won't get Pennywise til later but so far it's been pretty good. The CG effects kinda take me out of it but the story has always been where it's at.
FYI: With Frank Darabont's THE MIST celebrating an anniversary this week, we're here to ruin your day with 15 more bleak as hell horror movies.

I have a bit to say about it but I need time to develop my thoughts on it.
Just know that I enjoyed it a lot and yes I did cry.
#NowWatching Welcome to Derry Season 1 Ep 4
I better get the damn clown in this episode or im going bonkers.
At least some Bob Gray background stuff.
I am enjoying the other character development though.

One of my top ten movies of all time. Loved this one as a kiddo and still love it now. Just a lovely easy light hearted watch tonight.
Though this is a great film to study framing and using background and setting as it's own entity in a film.
I can always appreciate Aster's attention to details.
Movie poster for Eddington
#JustWatched Eddington
Not as much of a drag as Beau is Afraid (which I haven't finished)
I mean this in a nice way but it watches like a book. The flip into the second half is interesting. I felt a little lost in the B plot.
I definitely like Aster's horror films better but this is good 7.8/10
Hot take maybe.
I didn't like Enemy with Jake Gyllenhaal. Maybe it's a little too art house film for me but what was the point of the giant spider??
