So by all means, give to any community organization that is helping people who need help. The needs are many and luckily so are the helpers.

But the list of *actual* villains and grifters in our lives right now is long enough as it is without this.

Perhaps most importantly: the Red Cross is fundamentally independent from the government with a mission to prevent and alleviate suffering of any and all people. We do not have to follow any order that would contradict this. And the government can’t cut our funding because they don’t fund us!
