Is this his policy, or the legacy policy he is saddled with? Like, my issue with Mamdani is I think he’s deprioritized education policy and is sort of letting the status quo ride, but I don’t know how much he actually supports the preexisting system

I’ve been consistently disappointed post-election in what I am interpreting as a conscious deprioritizing of education (excluding 2-K) as a frontier for boat-rocking policy decisions. Not sure why, and I hope it changes over the course of his term, but it hasn’t been encouraging so far

Was having this discussion with friends, it’s hard to articulate exactly what is flawed about Kristof’s analysis of Mississippi’s successes, but I think this gets at it

Lawrence O'Donnell Explains how Corporate Democrats Think
It’s totally valid to threaten to withhold your general election vote in the context of a primary where there are acceptable and unacceptable candidates, regardless of the opponent in the general, as articulated by this centrist Democrat youtu.be/FqRNnIMDkUY?...

This line of thinking is a fallacy, as we’ve seen with Zohran’s ability to tap into populist ideas in a way centrist/mainstream Dems often seem allergic to, and unlock new voters

Re: 2, this allows the rhetorical trick of saying we need to elect a centrist candidate who will peel away votes from the moderate right, while there is “no upside” to electing a more progressive candidate, as all those votes are a given, even for centrist Dem, unless you are a superficial wrecker

Posting into the void about the latest discourse:
1. No one should be having any conversation about the general election before we know who the candidates in the primaries are
2. Consistent non-voters are never seen as a reliable bloc as mythical swing voters

ME: Yeah. Well, I also have it on my phone. I played another 300 hours.
CHOTINER: And these other games in your Steam library. Have you finished them?
ME: Now hold on a second,

There is one question: do we have enough resources to meet the basic needs of every person on the planet? If so, any system of government and economics that doesn’t orient itself towards achieving that purpose is inadequate

Zohran didn't win by relying on standard turnout patterns. We had to fundamentally transform the Democratic electorate.
I was part of a group of NYC-DSA members that applied lessons from our previous campaigns to design the “universe” of voters to talk to. Here's how we won 🧵

It feels trite to sum up the implications of Zohran’s primary win as “a democratic socialist is the presumptive mayor in the global heart of capitalism,” but I think it’s a useful framing for the optimism and potential his victory has created
