IRS Kills Off Popular Free Direct File Option For The 2026 Tax Filing Season While the IRS hasn’t officially confirmed that the program is dead, the website indicates that the program is closedβ€”and states have been notified that it will not be in place for 2026.

Reminder as you file your taxes, Intuit, the parent company of TurboTax, reported a total annual revenue of $16.3 billion for fiscal year 2024, representing a 13.34% increase from 2023.

Not just most, nearly all 97%! Now, let's compare those figures to other groups. Are our trans students welcome? Our Indigenous students? Do our international students feel safe?

Thank you Seren - I'm incredibly pleased and excited Muslim Wales is available for purchase.

I really want these stories out there, for the names of Welsh Muslim pioneers to be known, and for Wales' Islamic history to be celebrated.

Please do buy, order into libraries, and share with friends.

Yachts are rich people's carbon bombs. Yachts are a policy failure. We should put a 100% luxury tax on yachts, and put the money into green infrastructure that cuts carbon pollution and protects coastal communities from floods.

A flyer publicizing an unveiling ceremony for the Toni Morrison historical marker is taped to the covered marker in front of 513 North Albany Street in Ithaca, New York, on February, 18, 2026. The marker was a project of Cornell University’s Toni Morrison Collective. The group is comprised of Cornell faculty, librarians, and scholars dedicated to celebrating the legacy of the 1955 alumna of Cornell University’s College of Arts and Sciences. The marker was sponsored by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation through its New York State Historical Marker Grant Program. The unveiling ceremony was moved indoors due to rain. 1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧡

I'm in a border district. My people in the U.P. can't see a doctor or afford housing. Some are living in bitter cold without heat or hope.

D.C. continues to treat this xenophobic immigration hysteria as a legitimate priority while my people's basic needs are forgotten.

That is utterly enraging.

And what are they learning? Experts on the formation of internal security services in authoritarian regimes point to a sense of impunity as a warning sign. Regime officials abuse their power when they know they will be protected, and even praised, for doing so.

Over the course of weeks and months, we have seen images of DHS officials abusing American citizens and immigrants alike, including killing them. What we do not hear is regime officials calling for credible investigations into such abuses, or even expressing any concerns. Renee Good’s killer was announced innocent, and both Good and her wife was instead the subject of an investigation, a perversion of justice so obvious that an FBI agent and half-dozen career Department of Justice prosecutors assigned to Minnesota resigned.

What we are watching is a paramilitary force learning that they can kill with impunity, that the regime will smear the victim and defend them. Unless politicians and the legal system exerts accountability, it will not stop. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/past-the-b...
