I think one of the weirdest things to come out of the UK is the idea that you explicitly should segregate, denigrate, isolate and discriminate against an entire group of people, as long as you do it with "respect and dignity."

I am - and always will be - proud of my time as a Girlguiding ambassador. As a former Rainbow and Brownie myself, I know first hand what a difference these spaces make to girls. I've seen it in the faces of the young people I met on site visits - including trans girls, who were every bit as bright, joyful and deserving as any other child. Which is why the organisation's decision to exclude trans girls has devastated me. Some of those girls and their families have now found themselves caught in the crossfire of culture wars they never asked to be part of. I am truly heartbroken for the trans community who simply want to live their lives, be included, and have access to safe, supportive spaces. Trans girls experience the same threats as other women and girls - they are not a threat to us. They are our sisters. And so, with a very heavy heart, I will be stepping down as a Girlguiding ambassador with immediate effect. I stand with my trans sisters today and always. TERFs drive a wrecking ball through the Girl Guides and Women's Institute, inflicting misery on trans girls and women and the cis girls and women they've been friends with, in some cases, for decades, then act surprised when society don't rush to thank them. It's because you're cruel! weird! freaks!

This is only going to get much worse too, because these people don’t only want the minority groups they hate hounded and excluded. They want society to welcome them, praise them and tell them they are correct and beautiful. And that won’t ever happen, because they are repugnant and hateful.

The WI has been trans inclusive since the 70s, before I was born. Do you see who in this scenario was innocently minding their own business, coming to their own arrangements locally? Do you see who is forcefully imposing themselves and their demands upon others, via threats.

These kinds of actions are never driven by a sense that things are overdiagnosed by the way, they're driven by a belief that mental health conditions either don't actually exist or that those that live with them deserve not only no support but also deserve the conditions they have.

the HORSES affair is a startlingly low bar to cross to see if people actually care about protecting games from censorship of upsetting themes because it's far tamer and has way more moral clarity than a lot of stuff that doesn't get banned. but it's also very clarifying to see who can't cross it
