You know how things stopped being shareable?

Digital movie or game licenses instead of physical copies. Streaming services instead of cassettes & CDs. β€œDo not share" notices appearing on some new books' ISBN pages.

Capitalism has turned sharing into an act of resistance.

Community sharing lowers waste
Multiple studies of communities that swap, borrow, barter, and trade underused or unwanted items have shown that local sharing contributes to lower waste production, and can have a bigger impact than recycling.

β€’ Things stay in use & out of landfills longer,
β€’ Fewer things need to be made = less production waste!

80% of buyers regret purchases. 4 in 5 Americans regret some of their purchases even when they're well-researched-most often because what they bought was not needed, purchased on impulse, or because they have too much stuff already. Overconsumption patterns are on the rise, even though they so often lead to regret.
