The point of having a standards editor is that you bring in a skilled, disinterested person to read or watch a story and point out possible bias, errors and lapses.

The actual story editors can miss those things because they're so closely tied to the production and reporting of the piece.

Just watched Bernie Sanders on Maddow and in response to whether Schumer should step down from leadership, his answer was "Look Schumer is part of the Dem Establishment and if he steps down who will replace him?"

Whitehouse means well, but this sort of thing just has to stop. Someone's feelings *are* wrong--saying that everybody is right or everybody has a point is just a polite way of condescending. Unity takes real agreement--and willingness to say "We screwed up". The Dem leadership screwed up.
