The other way around is a valid question too. For example, the ability to communicate a problem and a solution clearly is much better developed in programming than in math, with its overloaded single Greek letter identifiers.

I agree with the majority. Math is not directly needed for programming.

However, there are shared skills where learning some kinds of math helps programming. Doing formal proofs for example helps with general analytical skills and breaking down problems.

Nobody wants to admit it, but the majority of software engineering is...

Dealing with legacy code.
A big ball of mud.
Spaghetti code.

But even as software engineers, we forget that we're REALLY good at working with constraints.

When we were first implementing passkeys, we ran a usability test with folks of differing abilities. When a man with vision challenges did an authentication with a passkey for the first time, he started crying because it was so easy.

In the chaos of the undesigned, with understanding of possibility under an architect, you should be able to find optimization through vision. My job is Security Engineer, but my job is not Security. It's producing a better solution that is secure. Which is better because it simply is better.
