OKAYYYYYY, there she is, I love doing all of these but there's just something about EJT's crispness of expression and analysis that really zngs off the page here. She's been through a LOT and come through with amazing insight. Also as I say understand her process REALLY brings her records to life.

The dance music made by Richard H Kirk around 1990 is perfect. The lines of transmission through culture, technology, geog- raphy and dancefloors that intersected in Yorkshire created many great things: Warp Records, the bleep, subsonic bass in the rave, LFO, Nightmares On Wax... but as Sweet Exorcist with Richard 'Parrot' Barratt, and briefly as XON with Rob Gordon, Kirk found the ultimate meeting point of all these things as they fed into a geometry so distinct, precise and delightful that, as with a beautiful mathematical innovation, it made you wonder what was invention and what was just stumbling onto some underlying principle of reality. As a physicist I can easily calculate time dilation from relativistic motion (time slows when you're moving fast) or proximity to a massive object (time slows in gravity) but I have yet to find a solution for emotional time dilation (the task takes five minutes to complete but six weeks to start) 🫠
