I wrote a reverse dungeon crawl called CANDLE. You go up instead of down. Things are still trying to kill you.

I wanted to put a shambling mound into MΓΆrk Borg, so I wrote an adventure about it.

Very annoyed that I forgot to post about yesterday's post, which is a moveset for a game that knows it's a game

I've been forgetting to post about this the past couple of days but my PbtA moves blog is still going strong with daily posts

I've moved 3x bodyweight once in my life and it made me feel like an absolute monster. Doing this at 9 years old is unbelievable

08.03.2026 20:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I understand that Co-op Live is the biggest indoor arena in Europe and it looks massive on screen but it's really weird being inside it because it doesn't actually feel much bigger than an academy show when you're standing. I have no idea how they've achieved it.

I just published a videogame that I made as part of the 7 day roguelike game Jam. Go check it out!
Explore an Eldritch library in this traditional roguelike looking for your name that has been stolen by the Librarian.

So many complained about Harry Styles being phone-free but watching it back on Netflix makes me want more people to start doing that tbh. I miss gigs where I wasn't staring at everyone's screens for 90 minutes.

My new Wretched & Alone game Blood In The Margins is out now! You killed someone on campus with your friends. Journal about the victim, the justifications, the investigation closing in.

Blood In The Margins is 40% off for the next 48 hours and I'd very much like you to buy it

What's worse than using 'content' to describe artistic work?
Using the term 'content industry' to describe basically all art.
Blood In The Margins: Wretched & Alone about campus murder. You and your friends killed someone. Journal about the victim, the cover-up, your why. The investigators are closing in. Dark academia inspired by The Secret History and If We Were Villains.

Itβs not a PS1 but I did immediately come up with a fun little music making game inspired by this conversation last night!

Blue Remembered Earth
Blue Remembered Earth by Alastair Reynolds.
I'm really enjoying the slowly unfurling mystery and I'm really interested to see where it goes
a dungeon game is pay what you want grimdark dungeon crawling. Dungeon crawling as survival horror with body horror and violence consequences. Exert yourself to succeed, get weaker, get stronger. All rules free online.

An addendum to the stray thoughts: I've only read two of Han Kang's books but they were both incredible. Do I need to have read all of her work to call her a favourite author? And if so, how big does an author's body of work have to be before that's no longer the case?
07.03.2026 22:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Anyway thanks for attending Stray Thoughts Saturday, where we abandon threads without attempting to come to a conclusion because it's bed time.
07.03.2026 22:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Then you have someone like Susanna Clarke who only has two novels and a short story collection. I love them all but that doesn't feel enough of a body of work to constitute a favourite author.
07.03.2026 22:23 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The flip side of this is that I'd probably tell you Stephen King is one of my favourites, but there are several of his books that I absolutely hate and I don't think I've only enjoyed a couple of his post-Joyland releases. And Joyland was 2013. So why does he make the list?
07.03.2026 22:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why wouldn't I think to name him in an off-the-cuff list of my favourite authors? I genuinely don't know, because I think he should absolutely be there.
07.03.2026 22:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you asked me to name my favourite authors I don't think Reynolds' name would come up, but I come back to him time and again I know he's always going to deliver a book I really, really like. I've never read a novel by him that I didn't enjoy, and Pushing Ice is absolutely my favourite SF novel.

Finally getting around to reading Alastair Reynolds' Poseidon's Children series and so far I unsurprisingly love it.
It's also making me think a lot about how we define our "favourite" authors.
This sounds like exactly my shit
