On Ash-Shams TV (based in Irbil, Iraq) on Friday night talking about Syria. The Trump administration is not happy about Israelβs breaking the ceasefire Washington thought had been arranged. (A subsequent story in Axios confirmed what I said Friday night.)

As I said Sunday on the Al-Araby News Channel, the White House and State are both angry that Israeli airstrikes disrupted the first ceasefire in Suywaida, Syria. They want to see the new ceasefire upheld by all sides so that Syria-Israeli talks can get back on track.

As we were all taught in high school, not to decide ... is to decide.
Excellent and important news for those concerned about the need for greater strategic resilience against flash floods. NOAA is updating its flash flood forecasting models to incorporate trends, not just (increasingly out of date) historical data.

12/12 So what is the administrationβs plan to reduce the 3.5 million case backlog with only 100 more immigration judges?

9/12 DOJ has already instructed immigration judges to dismiss pending immigration cases βthat do not have viable legal paths for relief or protection from removalβ:

7/12 One option is to deny millions of people a hearing, and just deport them, claiming there arenβt enough judges to hear their cases. President Trump said in April βwe have thousands of people that are ready to go out and you can't have a trial for all of these people.β

6/12 If you increase the number of immigration judges by only 100, how will this achieve the goal of significantly reducing the 3.5 million case backlog?
www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/m...
5/12 The Supreme Court has said consistently that prospective deportees are entitled to due process. This could come through immigration judges or through Federal judges appointed under Article III of the Constitution.

4/12 However, section 100054(1)(B) says that by Nov. 1, 2028, there can be βnot more than 800 immigration judgesβ:

1/12 So hereβs something hard to understand about the Trump administrationβs immigration plans. The US has approximately 700 immigration judges, according to DOJ statistics:

Doug Lute and I write in today's Washington Post that Congress needs to protect our Afghan allies from deportation and the crippling fees in H.R. 1, the Big, Beautiful Bill Act. This is both national honor and a clear-eyed understanding of national security.
