Did.. anyone contact any journalists? I mean there are a tiny fraction of them left compared to 10, 20 years ago.
My editor at the books section at The Washington Post is Stephanie Merry.
More pointedly, the pope said, "Someone who says, I'm against abortion, but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life. Someone who says, I'm against abortion but I'm in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don't know if that's pro-life."
What a line from the Pope! I am so pleased he is carrying on Pope Francisβ advocacy for immigrants.

I'm interested in expectations, before/after care and your thoughts on the experience.

This COVID outbreak is no joke, gang. Lots of folks turning up positive. Time to
* Get that new Vax if you can
* Stock up on masks
* Stock up on COVID tests - they are selling out
* Make a battle plan to take care of yourself if you need to quarantine
* Avoid larger events if you are vulnerable
Candon Dean Dahle, 22, was sentenced by Idaho District Judge Steven Boyce to 5-10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a girl for 5 years.
It started when she was 7 years old.
--Boyce then suspended the sentence and placed Dahle on probation for eight years.

Honestly, I kind of feel bad for that person.
They can't see the joy in colorful things.
They are afraid to wear anything that might make them stand out even a tiny bit.
That is a sad life.
Your socks are fabulous.
Iβve partnered with the Center for Wildlife Studies to make an online take-at-your-own-pace version of my βpublic science engagement using social mediaβ professional development workshop.
You can take it for graduate course credit, CPE credit, or just to learn a useful new skill.

But even without any of that: Better ventilation and filtration in schools can MASSIVELY reduce viral spread, for all sorts of respiratory diseases.
Neil deGrass Tyson: "How sad it must be believing that scientists, historians, scholars, economists, journalists devoted their entire lives to deceiving you, but a reality-TV star proven in court to be a lying felon is your beacon of truth & honesty"

Some rando screaming into the void? Eh.
Be well.
Just to be clear - you want me to be kind and respect the opinion of someone hiding behind a fake name and photo - while they are being nasty to me.
No.
And I think you believe that reporters continue to uncover important stories, all while under constant attack, personally and professionally.

21.08.2025 20:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What would you say to a group of people who don't know anything about science and spend their time on the internet claiming that all scientists take big pharma and are trying to kill people?
Same, dude.
I'm sorry that was your experience as a reporter.
21.08.2025 10:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No one is saying that no field is above criticism.
There's a difference between specific criticism of a story and blaming the media for the entire state of the country.
It's easy to scream at the screen. But it means nothing.
Dude, you want to make something better. Get involved. Do something.
Some of us are still in the game trying to make things better. What are you doing?
You can open a substack, interview people and write the story you feel is missing.
You can have your own podcast. Everyone is doing it these days!
But then... you'd actually have to do the work.
It's way easier to hide behind a fake name, do nothing and complain. Go on with your faux self!
That's a good example - if you don't like your doctor, find another. Or educate yourself to ask good questions.
But it's wrong to paint the entire medical profession as inept and biased. Oh wait, that's exactly what MAGA does. I'm sorry, I didn't understand that you were one of them. My bad.
Then read those people. Or pitch your own stories, since you seem to feel that you are all knowing and superior.
20.08.2025 23:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At least I made a difference. I continue to try.
What do you do? Hide behind a screen like the Great Oz?
Stop complaining. Do something.
I find it strange that people take so much pleasure in being horrible. I received hate mail from a WaPo story I did about cats.
Never mind the vitriol unleashed when I wrote anything medical.
Can you find something good to say? Why must I say something negative to make you feel validated?
There is a lot of good work being done by the NYT and WaPo. I grew up with the Post and it was my first internship. What Bezos has done is awful.
But I believe in the reporters. I do.
Is there room for criticism? Sure. But nowhere near this endless "they kneel to fascism" bs.
Once upon a time there was no widespread public platform to share a specific viewpoint other than the media.
Now it's an open field and plenty of ink. Go ahead.
But it's far easier to complain behind a fake name. Don't like it? Do something.
Look, I still believe in journalism and I know some of the reporters out there are amazing. I try to teach my students to write fairly and accurately.
Sometimes I get to write stories that change things. Still. It's the best feeling ever.
Criticize? Yes. This blanket hate and blame? No.
Then go write the "real" story. No one is stopping you. Go pitch WIRED or whomever.
