09.02.2026 11:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This Italian skating team is so exited they got me tearing up lol
08.02.2026 21:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The ITA & CAN speed skating matchup was a thrill! As was Gogolevβs skate. Cast on my sock stitches and got up to the gusset.
08.02.2026 09:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Day 1: Not too much today! Caught up on the team skate from Day 0, men's big air, women's 3000m speed skating, and part of the team skate day 1. The X games style sports are so fun because all the competitors seem like friends, and I love Craig McMorris's commentary.
08.02.2026 09:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm planting myself in front of the TV for the next two weeks for the Olympics! I like to keep my hands busy so my goal is to finish a sock (already have the first of a pair done) and most if not all of a cardigan!
07.02.2026 06:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Very excited to announce my talk at the @rgsibg.bsky.social !! 27 April, both in person and online. π₯³ #NavalHistory

YOLO I'm going to Nova Scotia!
Plans still pending but I'm definitely going to hit up the archives and the Randall house museum for some Best family history. It turns out my sister is talking at a conference in May so we're planning to link up and do Cape Breton together, which should be fun!
Mark's a Saskatchewan boy and his brother does commentary on his Olympics events, we're very fond of them here
04.02.2026 23:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This has been an extremely difficult start to the Olympics for Canada.
First Deanna Stellato-Dudek injured in a training accident.
And now Mark McMorris taken off of mountain in a stretch tonight after a training crash.
π±
No! Such a terrible start to these Olympics
Or the third option of course which is that I don't have the right address.
01.02.2026 01:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's been a few weeks since I sent off some letters to descendants so now I get to play the "Is the letter still in transit or am I being ghosted?" game
01.02.2026 01:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Rude as hell that Stars On Ice is entirely skipping over Saskatchewan on a Winter Olympics year
26.01.2026 18:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I started writing the url out and then backspaced it and apparently it added a link to that backspaced malformed url as part of my post π€¦ββοΈ Nobody click that, it's not a real site
25.01.2026 08:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I haven't had to use it for a while so I would have missed frontloading orders anyway π€ But I was meaning to buy a will for this one family and put it off because I was busy at the end of last year, and now I'm regretting that! Such a shame
25.01.2026 08:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That amounted to $100 last year, but would be over $1000 this year! But of course I'm now going to just avoid it whenever possible, which means harder family tracing
25.01.2026 08:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It might not sound like much but in Canadian that went from $2.80 to $30 CAD per will π€π€π€
Because the price was so reasonable I used it all the time, even though frankly the service and interface is terrible. I looked through my account and in 2025 I ordered 36 wills.
FML probatesearch, the UK's service for scanning and sending probate documents from 1858-present, went from Β£1.50 to Β£16. I used it literally ALL the time for genealogy. For a few of the Franklin crew I looked at, it was the sole reason I was able to find living descendants.
25.01.2026 08:20 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0Screenshot of the weather network showing a wind chill of -41 degrees celsius
Who needs to read about polar exploration when you can experience it yourself from the convenience of your own home!
(This is practically balmy, the windchill was -48 this morning π₯Ά)
Thanks! It ended up in my spam folder, but it is good to confirm it got received, albeit in the wrong place. Looks like I have some more things to configure!
19.01.2026 07:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Would someone be able to do me a favour and just send a random test email to the email address on this page and then let me know about it? I want to test that itβs working with an email address that isnβt mine

It's the most interesting superhero name I've ever heard of! π
10.01.2026 09:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ohhhhhh that certainly looks like it fits better. So many old occupations I've never heard of!
10.01.2026 08:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Requesting transcription help again! What's George Morland's occupation. The best guess I have is portraiture maker, but the last job I have for him prior to this is carpenter so that's quite a change
10.01.2026 07:45 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also though when is that 25th anniversary production film being released because it was one of the best nights of my life and I want to relive it over and over again
10.01.2026 02:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Continually impressed by Ben Levi Ross who's giving a outstanding performance in such a small role
10.01.2026 02:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Joshua Henry deserves a tony for his 30 seconds of singing in Till We Reach That Day alone
But also he deserves a tony for the other 4 minutes of that song where he is not singing and instead just weeping
We still get a bit of Robert Peary's dialogue, but they cut out Matthew Henson's small role from the cast recording :(

The Ragtime 2025 revival Broadway cast recording is out πππ
Ultimately I think the mixing and energy is better in the original Broadway cast, but I am a huge Joshua Henry fan and generally thought this was an excellent cast so I'm so happy to get their version of these songs!
I already got a response from the first person I reached out to, and it turns out she's adopted! I couldn't find her birth record but thought maybe she was just born outside of England π€¦ββοΈ That's the first time that's happened so far π
I have others but no one online so time to write some letters!
