like, i dunno. i guess just maybe ask yourself before you decide to yeet someone into the friendship void forever whether or not they're crossing a red line or if they're just mildly annoying you about one particular thing. and if it's the latter, maybe you can just ignore it or talk it out w/ them.

and like i'm not gonna pretend i don't do this. i get tired of people real quick. and there are *so many* people to be tired of on this site. sometimes i block / mute people for dumb reasons. sometimes i realize i was being a dipshit and other times i don't and they stay blocked / muted. it happens

obviously there are red lines and it's good to have red lines but other times you have things like the ongoing Bluesky Civil War where a bunch of decent folk who you know are decent folk keep blocking each other not even because they necessarily disagree but because they have different priorities

i feel like social media encourages the idea that if you just keep blocking people whenever they disagree with you on extremely niche issues, you'll eventually be surrounded only by Your People who understand you without you having to resolve differences or communicate like adults. that's... wrong
