Here is @aoc.bsky.social thankfully telling everyone exactly what to do to stop a concentration camp from being built where you live.

Please take it to heart and take action.

cauliflower salad with dates and pistachios An inhalable clean-out-the-fridge roasted cauliflower salad that has charred scallion segments, salted pistachios, chopped dates, and a sharp lemon dressing.

If you don’t mind turning in the oven briefly to roast the cauliflower, this salad is great! smittenkitchen.com/2023/01/caul...

Today is a beautiful day to early vote and not rank Cuomo.

Once again, friends, DO NOT RANK Cuomo on your mayoral ballot. Instead, #RankTheSlate - @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, @bradlander.bsky.social, @nycspeakeradams.bsky.social, and @zellnor.bsky.social -- and add @jessicaramosqns.bsky.social to fill out your five. NO CUOMO - NEVER CUOMO.

Like many people, the recent glut of Studio-Ghibli-styled AI images has left a bad taste in my mouth.

My grandma (we called her β€œgranarch” because she was 𝘒𝘯𝘒𝘳𝘀𝘩π˜ͺ𝘀) wrote β€œHowl's Moving Castle”, which was adapted by Hayao Miyazaki into a film of the same name.

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Book Howl gets 100 times better when you realize he’s a grad student who decided being a wizard was better than finishing his dissertation.

This thread is great. Also, think about how many of the book bans in recent years have been driven by one person or a handful of people making themselves a huge nuisance. That power can be harnessed for good, too! This is especially great to remember if you’re retired and have time to spare

I do not need the Dems to tell us how bad things are. We already read the news. I need them tell us *what they plan to do about it*

i think an important thing for people outside the US to understand is that elon musk seized control of the government today and most americans don’t even realize it happened.

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later

Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

Every safety regulation was written in blood, frequently with a body count higher than one, and it’s not political to put the blame on people who want to β€œmove fast and break things” when they start breaking human lives.

We say that people don't notice constitutional regime collapse because it comes on too slowly but I'm not sure how much faster it could be happening; we are literally at concentration camps on day 9.

Here’s the thing I take from this: we absolutely have to hold our governments to their net zero pledges, and to try to over deliver. 3 C is beyond catastrophic. 2.5 C is devastating.

Less than 2 C is still going to lead to heartbreaking results.

Mine would have to be HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE by Diana Wynne Jones.

It’s got magic and romance, but also family and found family, an old (ish) lady who gives no craps, a vain wizard grad student, and the constant overturning of expectations.

We’re close to losing Sesame Street, a show that was started to provide free educational media to marginalized kids in our country.

That’s not an accident in my opinion and it’s just one more example of how Capitalism robs our society of the sweet and good things we build to care for one another.

"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting.

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC
