Clear communication from managers is essential for supporting neurodivergent staff. Having strong library policies and encouraging staff to work on projects that they are passionate about are also beneficial #CDGND

For spaces to truly be inclusive, they should be co-created. Brings to mind the "Nothing about us without us" slogan #CDGND

A key point from Elaine: accessibility around recruitment and leadership progression is extremely important. To do this, managers may consider providing disabled candidates with additional accommodations in interview settings #CDGND

Library spaces can be both negative and positive places for neurodivergent people. On one hand they can be noisy and busy, on the other they can also be quiet and have sensory supports. Collaboration with stakeholders is key to creating inclusive library spaces #CDGND

Managers should be clear about what is expected of all staff and should clarify what accessibility looks like within the workplace #CDGND

Unfortunately we often encounter red-tape obstacles when it comes to providing supports for neurodivergent staff in libraries #CDGND

Good point from Elaine. Neurodivergent staff are usually the best to support neurodivergent users because they themselves have likely had similar experiences #CDGND

NLISN is a peer support network for neurodivergent individuals working in the library and information science sector in the UK and Ireland. NLISN welcomes individuals who are both diagnosed, waiting for diagnosis, or are suspected or self-diagnosed neurodivergent.

What does NLISN do? Maintain resources online including a website. Provide a mailing list/membership platform. Run in person and online events. Evidence representation and impact. See more details in their annual report and plan.
