My dad's dad grew vegetables in a glass house. My mother's dad worked at a bank (I think?). I looked up my ancestors from both sides and it's basically all gardeners, builders, and farm hands 6 generations deep.

When someone says β€žScientists do not want you to knowβ€œ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

Het is misschien ook deels omdat de cirkels niet in hetzelfde perspectief staan? Zijn ovaaltjes of 'gekantelde' vierkantjes beter?

CNN reporting that the strikes on Iran tonight are joint US and Israeli strikes.

Which means Donald Trump should be impeached for a third time.

What he has done tonight is illegal under the US constitution and the UN charter.

It seems like most of the noticeable technological advancements of the last decades are in software, not so much in hardware. Cars, houses, trains,... pretty much look the same. Drones are the exception I guess. And the size of mobile phones? Or am I missing stuff?

It is time we stop this madness. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. We have to stop these billionaires ruining our planet.

I can't believe it has already been 4 years since the Perseverance rover landed on Mars! #planetsci

The rover was equipped with six engineering camera that captured more than 26.000 images during the landing!

Starting this Friday, four separate #JWST programmes will be exploring physical processes in Jupiter's atmosphere and ionosphere. We're asking amateur astronomers to help provide context imaging over the next few weeks to understand how the atmosphere is changing with time. #planetaryscience

This is also because they let more water flow through the rivers, which have been dried up in recent decades. It's not like they are planting trees throughout the desert. See e.g. some promo here en.people.cn/n3/2025/0930...

Hey let’s talk about cool science for once! 🧡

A new paper is out showing something that’s been discussed for about a decade…Titan may have originally been multiple Titan-ish objects that merged!

And it may have even happened recently!

Why do we do astrophysics? At time of writing, large language models (LLMs) are beginning to obtain the ability to design, execute, write up, and referee scientific projects on the data-science side of astrophysics. What implic...

David Hogg has written a white paper on doing astrophysics in the age of LLMs. It looks to be thought-provoking. My initial reaction is that either LLMs will destroy the field or they will force a reckoning with and re-imagining of the current system that often prioritizes output over quality. πŸ§ͺ

Anything fancy with these suits tends to be aerodynamics related. I guess this is the outside leg when going through a corner, which will be exposed and have the higher speed. They tend to want to break laminar flow to reduce resistance, like with golf balls.
That's my guess, but not 100% sure.
