I totally remember the episode, not from 1958, but from 40 years ago. She was BRILLIANT.

The FBI being on high alert for terrorist actions is important right now.

Too bad they fired and gutted their counterterrorism capacity

In Search of Paul Cornell A two-part article is coming in the Hyde Park Herlad, the result of my quest to figure out our founder.

Trying to figure out personality from a photo. My pursuit of our founder Paul Cornell open.substack.com/pub/patricia...

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

The evidence of corporate consolidation is everywhere.

It means more power for them and less freedom for you.

But if the cause be not good, the King himself hath a heavy reckoning to make, when all those legs, and arms, and heads, chopp’d off in a battle, shall join together at the latter day and cry all, β€œWe died at such a place”

One of my favorite collages. I put this together in 2020 during COVID. All of the images are from buildings in Chicago.

oh, interesting! I'll look at their door tomorrow to see if there's anything posted. There isn't anything on their social media. Things open slowly around here.

I'll try this again but with a pretty picture:
I just put in the Native Plant order for the Hyde Park #Chicago Garden Fair so I figured it was good to remind folks that the fair this year for the first time is SATURDAY and SUNDAY May 16 and May 17 in Kimbark Plaza. www.hydeparkgardenfair.com

One big problem with Trumps β€œretirement plan.” They will match up to 1000 per year… but now companies can dump their employees off the company plan which matches way more…. Onto the govt plan.

It’s a corporate handout… again

Call me crazy, but I think the US Surgeon General should be an educated & licensed practicing physician, not someone who shills vitamins under the guise of 'holistic treatment'.

People do what you pay them to do.
You pay corporate executives to make stock prices go up, not to make better products.
You pay politicians to get re-elected, not to govern well.
You pay reporters to get a bigger audience, not to tell the truth.
And so forth.
Be aware of what you pay people to do

How America Chose Not to Hold the Powerful to Account Our national project of elite impunity

After the arrests of powerful men across the world, you might be asking why the US has so much trouble holding its leaders accountable for lawbreaking. Since Nixon, all three branches of government have worked hard to ensure they can break the law with impunity www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

β€œWe will always protect Social Security” may not have gotten as much attention as some other outrageous lies tonight.

But watch this account next week as my co-authors and I release a a report on what happened inside the Social Security Administration last year. Kinda the opposite of protection.

Wrong term? I meant those who produce no value. They
profit from the churn, load the debt on others, people lose jobs and services, especially in smaller towns. Businesses vanish or limp along like ghosts. I'm lamenting WGN right now and the Tribune. Sears, ToysRUs, True Value Hardware.

It’s both funny and cosmically correct that the U.S. men’s hockey chodes will have to sit through 2+ hours of rambling from their addled little king while the U.S. Women’s team gets to skip the speech and party with Flavor Flav in Vegas

One of the worst things to happen to America is venture capital. Seize a business, load it with the debt you accumulated to buy it, gut the business, and leave a gaping hole in the fabric of society.

Hyde Park Stories: The Windermere Hotel The first thing Paul Cornell did to create a community in Hyde Park was to bargain for a passenger stop from the Illinois Central Railroad. The second thing he did,

The AI obviously found my Herald article and the email at the end--and processed no other relevant information, like, I dunno, I'm in Chicago? Luckily it's a separate email address than my usual one for when I get more requests for Wi-Fi in the Lake District. www.hpherald.com/evening_dige...

When guests message in the evening (arrival times, Wi-Fi, parking etc.) are you the one answering them? Just curious."

More evidence we now live in the stupidest timeline ever. "Natalie" at Pilot AI found my "cottage" online and wants detailed information--"Just curious." Even the laziest search in Duck Duck Go pulls up the Windermere Hotel in Scotland (also not a cottage) as the first hit. 1/n

People don't want data centers polluting their cities.

They don't want masked thugs terrorizing their neighbors.

They don't want warehouses being turned into ICE prisons.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home.

They want their basic needs met.
