No, just comics in general, I think? Can’t speak for him, of course, but every interview I’ve read or heard him talking about it, does not seem like someone that had ever, like, wanted to read a comic? Lots of people are great at stuff they don’t particularly like

Yeah, don’t disagree on that, just disagreeing on what’s literary about literature, I guess.

I have a feeling I won’t agree with this view on Literature (with a capital L)… From my point of view, not having many works that would be appreciated by the Nobel committee might actually be a strength of comics.

Perramus is the best Breccia work for people that don’t like comics (that list includes Breccia himself). (Just kidding! Kinda, sorta)

(And maybe the fact that current American movies doesn’t seem to be offering many Costa-Gavrases is what leads us to watch this movie that way? I think people are hungry for something that’s not being offered. But can’t blame this movie for that)

I think it successfully builds a cartoonish world and, within it, can conjure up some kinda feeling and emotion? I guess what I’m trying to say is that it makes for a better movie if you think about it as a good Spielberg instead of as a bad Costa-Gavras.

I had a similar feeling but ended up in the opposite direction? I’m just not sure “politics” would have made it a better movie? Same way Indiana Jones is a (great) movie without much “History”… like, yeah, it’s not a Harun Faroki movie, but most likely it would have been terrible at that?

If I remember correctly, while Kirby was complaining about it, some penciler (Diogenes of Staten Island) drew a whole page, gave it to him and walked away laughing.

Somewhere in Making Comics the Marvel Way there’s the anecdote of Kirby complaining that finishing a comic is impossible: “to draw a page, first you have to draw a panel. But to draw a panel, first you have to draw the character in it. But to draw the character, first you gotta draw their face, etc”

September 4 is, in Argentina, both Comics Day and Immigrants Day. There's a very direct line that starts with me reading comics and ends up with me becoming an immigrant. Someone is out there making a comic today, having no clue how it might shape somebody else's life. Cheers!

I was there, too! Decided to read one volume a year and that made it feel more manageable. It’s a fun read if you’re in the right frame of mind, I think. Couldn’t stop thinking about my attention span LOL
