Writing for @croakeynews.bsky.social, DEA members Dr Shaun Watson and Dr Kati Watson warn that the Federal Governmentโs plans to introduce a road user tax on electric vehicle drivers will be retrogressive, and call on the Government to put our health first.

The National Climate Risk Assessment warns that climate change is putting the health of millions of Australians at risk.
DEA Deputy Chair A/Prof Chris Leung hopes the confronting report serves as a call to action for the countryโs health system.

DEA condemns the governmentโs weak 62-70% emissions target, which fails to protect the health of Australians and our environment from climate change.
When will our government accept its ethical responsibility to put the health of the nation ahead of coal and gas exports?
Full media release below ๐
From 2016-2019, heatwaves caused 1,009 deaths in Australia, according to new research.
Emergency medicine specialist Dr Kimberly Humphrey warns that global heating is adding strain to Australiaโs already overstretched health service, with vulnerable communities being disproportionately affected.
As health professionals, Doctors for the Environment Australia takes the projections in the report very seriously, especially as they echo concerns that we have been raising as an organisation for many years.
15.09.2025 11:17 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This report should serve as a wake-up call for anyone still clinging to climate denialism or a business-as-usual approach to climate risks.
Our government clearly understands the risk- they must now accept their responsibility to not make things worse by moving us on from coal, oil and gas.
Doctors and medical students, join DEA and add your voice to a growing movement of medical professionals committed to bringing about positive change for our planet and future generations.
Together, we can make a real difference.

@docsenvaus.bsky.social Nitrous Oxide Webinar recording is now on youtube. It covers the issues with leaking from nitrous oxide pipelines and how we can significantly reduce the emissions associated with this wasteful system, without affecting patient care. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3uG...

Can you chip in a few dollars to help us? Please share and donate if you can ๐

01.09.2025 06:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Taking Woodside to court was a huge risk for a small not-for-profit like ours, but we knew we had to try.
Unfortunately, Australiaโs environmental laws are not fit for purpose, and we lost the case. We now have to pay 80k in legal costs.

A LNG tank just 7km from Darwin, has been leaking methane for nearly 20 years. Regulators knew, but kept the public in the dark.
The faulty tank poses unacceptable risks to the environment, climate & the health of the community. This is an absolute outrage.
Santos must fix this leak immediately.
New research estimates that traffic pollution causes 1,800+ premature deaths in Australia each year - more than our annual road toll.
DEA member & GP, A/Prof Vicki Kotsirilos, says we need a public information campaign to raise awareness of the serious health harms caused by traffic pollution.
Last Friday, the Federal Court ruled against DEA, meaning that Woodside and/or NOPSEMA can now pursue us for costs.
This would be a heavy blow for a small not-for-profit like ours. That is why we urgently need your help.
