OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

Lovely image from the NOAA-20 satellite yesterday showing the location of grounded A23a iceberg close to the island of South Georgia 😍
It's still crazy to me that this iceberg has been in the Southern Ocean since 1986, taking a few little pauses along its way to this current position!

Carbon removal is the next big fossil fuel boom, oil company says Occidental wants to use climate tech to boost oil and gas production.

So a fossil fuel company that bought a COβ‚‚ removal (CDR) startup for $1.1 billion plans to use the COβ‚‚ captured from the atmosphere to get more oil out of the ground. It's…not great at all.

The multiple aggregations with marine snow (the high speed train to microplastics) is the key. One-off process is not enough to take microplastics to deep ocean.

If you ever wondered why buoyant microplastics have been found in the deep-sea sediment with high concentrations, our newest paper might give you some ideas.

The multiple aggregationes with marine snow takes the buoyant microplastics (can be some other particles) to deep sea sediments.
