the idea of encouraging people to mask feels like an individual band-aid on a systemic problem—and guess what, it is. the key difference is that without using masks as a stop-gap while the systemic solutions are obtained, lots of people—maybe even you—become disabled & die.

(Oakland) ATPT is offering free Covid testing on Mondays, 4-7 p.m.; Tuesdays, 12-4 p.m.; 1st & 3rd Fridays, 3-7 p.m. From their IG post: "Tests are free, and folks will go home with a box of tests (while supplies last). Masks [also] available on site."

It looks like HHS has shut down the long-standing program for community orgs to request large amounts of free COVID rapid tests. Our local mask bloc received this auto reply today. Horrible and a sign of the new, worse times.

There is now absolutely zero structural federal protection against COVID in the USA. People will focus on how goofy the website is, the theatre of it all. People need to instead focus on how these resources can be maintained by the community and work to do that

One year ago, friends & comrades tried to preserve infection control in SF healthcare. For some, it was instructive that rather than come out and listen, department of public health officials locked the building doors. I will always be proud that unlike the state, we take care of us 😷❤️
