It's #DentistDay! This is Lilian Murray who became the first female dentist to qualify in the UK. She initially tried to enrol at the London Dental School but was refused entry to the building in case she distracted male students & was interviewed on the pavement instead! #InternationalWomensDay

Black and white photo of Marjane Satrapi with the quote:

"The world is not divided between East and West. You are American. I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same."

So, here's the article I have out as of today and it's #OpenAccess. It deals with one of the earliest Christian Arabic scribal workshops in the Sinai monastery, where many of the mss produced there have been preserved to this day. In this 🧡 I do a quick rundown of the most important findings. 1/n

Want a Masterclass in How Not to Work With Artists? Ask Google | Artnet News Renown artist Judy Chicago shares her misadventures with an ambitious public art commission for the tech giant.

This painstakingly detailed account of a nightmare experience working with Google feels worth honoring with a read. So unprofessional and disrespectful of Google.

Pop star Bad Bunny needed a Puerto Rican history scholar. UW–Madison had just the one. Bad Bunny collaborated with UW–Madison history professor Jorell MelΓ©ndez-Badillo on Puerto Rican narratives that accompany the new album β€œDeBÍ TiRAR MΓ‘S FOToS.”

Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl

Together, we raised over $600,000 for @translifeline.org this year. From the bottom of my heart, I'm so grateful. We have come together to say to our trans friends and family that they are loved and that they are not alone.

Trans rights are human rights.

When we gather together, we can make Magic.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβ€”because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
