One has to separate the art from the artist
31.10.2025 15:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0He certainly didnβt do much else. Absolutely fair play to him
30.10.2025 22:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Proper good news today - the Renters' Rights Act gets Royal Assent. Citizens Advice see 200 people a day with problems in private rented housing. The act shifts the balance towards tenants, but it's just the start, as @tessthompsonca.bsky.social says here wearecitizensadvice.org.uk/the-renters-...
28.10.2025 10:36 β π 4 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0Is saying that the Jews run the world antisemitic or just vigilant? Tune in for next week's episode of "is it racist to be racist"

27.10.2025 13:32 β π 2 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Yes itβs probably βdefending set piecesβ isnβt it. Thatβs the counter Booorrrriiinnnggg
21.10.2025 14:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I wonder whether there will be a Klopp to this Pep- a tactical counter revolution of open play (no idea whatβ¦)
21.10.2025 14:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Whatβs odd is that Pestonβs big break came during the 2008 crash where he actually did understand what was happening, not just the lobby politics of it. So the incentives are such that itβs worth his while forgetting that?
21.10.2025 08:35 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Twenty of the second tier Championship clubs in 2025 now have higher attendances than the 15k that Villa had in 1986. Football as a source of local connection + pride was in a bad way then and a much better place beyond the premiership today
18.10.2025 10:17 β π 24 π 1 π¬ 3 π 0My colleague @mashley.bsky.social argued recently that directly reducing electricity bills (to reverse the levies) may be a better use of government money than cutting VAT.
Why? Because it opens up an affordable route to get off gas and further lower bills, via electric heating
Nice fabrics tho
15.10.2025 10:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Excellent thread on what should guide any Jobcentre engagement with disabled claimants (many of these principles should be standard across the whole UC system - not just for those currently exempt from conditionality).
15.10.2025 10:43 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0This is what we keep seeing- and keep saying- at Citizens Advice. Was in Durham today speaking to debt advisors and no one there thought the cost of living crisis had ended.
14.10.2025 20:33 β π 9 π 5 π¬ 0 π 0βI think politicians are ignoring prices and bills and hoping weβll forget about them and find something else to complain aboutβ¦β
My report on how the flighty Westminster bubble forgot about the cost-of-living crisis, which certainly isn't over:
they do but made out of dry stone walls
09.10.2025 19:10 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0US Open tennis has gone a bit in this direction too, tho obv nowhere near as bad. Very interesting that the Euro response was the milder/ funnier end of football chants - 'Are you watching Donald Trump?', "You've only got one song" etc. There is a less refined version of this they could reach for...
29.09.2025 12:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0High costs are everywhere - moving in, making the place liveable, keeping up with daily essentials. Families placed out of area are also far from their support networks, pushing costs up even higher.
And all for accommodation that is often poor quality, miles away from where it's needed.
New @citizensadvice.bsky.social report on Temporary Accommodation. People know that it's really expensive for local authorities to house tenants in TA, but this report shows how expensive it is for the families too.

π‘ Ofgemβs changes on standing charges wonβt cut bills - lower charges just mean a higher cost per unit for energy.
Tinkering at the edges wonβt help people this winter. We need long-term, targeted support for households facing record energy prices ‡οΈ

Something like Minsky's theory of economic crises - "the rapid instability occurs because long periods of steady prosperity and investment gains encourage a diminished perception of overall market risk"
19.09.2025 22:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah this is where my knowledge runs out tbh. Anyway, great signing. Utterly dominant summer from the PL, hoovering up talent - Sesko, Gyokeres, Simons, Wirtz, Ekitke, Woltemade. The players just behind the absolute elite
29.08.2025 08:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Germany U21s were very much loading it up and flinging it in at him at the Euros this summer
29.08.2025 08:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My Catalan ain't what it should be but I can guess what 'el neurΓ²tic i agitat panorama del BarΓ§a' means...
28.08.2025 18:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think Barcelona have been equally mismanaged off the pitch, but on the pitch you would barely notice. It's hard to be this bad.
28.08.2025 14:59 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And it feels like there's extra pressure to get it right this time - the new boss can't expect to even get a full season unless he's in the top 6.
28.08.2025 08:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The biggest worry this season is that we're still reliant on the old guard (Nunez and Sargent) who are very likely to leave. Last year's signings still haven't stepped up, this year's will take a while
