My colleague @mashley.bsky.social argued recently that directly reducing electricity bills (to reverse the levies) may be a better use of government money than cutting VAT.

Why? Because it opens up an affordable route to get off gas and further lower bills, via electric heating

Very interesting that the Euro response was the milder/ funnier end of football chants - 'Are you watching Donald Trump?', "You've only got one song" etc. There is a less refined version of this they could reach for...

High costs are everywhere - moving in, making the place liveable, keeping up with daily essentials. Families placed out of area are also far from their support networks, pushing costs up even higher.

And all for accommodation that is often poor quality, miles away from where it's needed.

I think Barcelona have been equally mismanaged off the pitch, but on the pitch you would barely notice. It's hard to be this bad.

And it feels like there's extra pressure to get it right this time - the new boss can't expect to even get a full season unless he's in the top 6.

The biggest worry this season is that we're still reliant on the old guard (Nunez and Sargent) who are very likely to leave. Last year's signings still haven't stepped up, this year's will take a while
