Newly installed shelf supports and repaired and painted walls.
A bathroom with shelves in the corner. A tabby cat is sitting on one shelf.
Shutdown project days 3-6: ripped out and repositioned a shelf that was oddly spaced and it turns out held up by finishing nails and caulk. Since I had the spackle out I also fixed the other holes in my walls from previous projects.

An acorn squash, a bowl of bell peppers, and a bowl of basil.
A bowl of pesto with a fork in it.
I also picked the basil and an acorn squash that seemed ready. I'm gambling with the rest of the winter squash because they need more time. I dug up 3 of the pepper plants to try and overwinter them.

A bowl full of green bell peppers.
A bowl full of lemon cucumbers and one tomato.
We've got a freeze watch tonight. Picked all the peppers, cucumbers, and one tomato. Still need to pull the green tomatoes. Going to leave the beets, kohlrabi, herbs, lettuce, peas, and winter squash since we're only forecast for 37ยฐF.

You have probably done this... if not, check your insurance formulary and make sure that the medication is on it. Was having similar issues, to me it seemed the doc and pharmacy weren't talking. At doc's office suggestion I called insurance and learned the med wasn't on the list. Gave list to doc.

Shutdown day 2 projects: put some more holes in my house that didn't result in hanging a plant. I'm starting to suspect the universe doesn't want a plant there.

Maybe if I bring all my office plants home the shutdown won't last too long.
I don't really believe it will have any sway since calling my reps hasn't done anything either. It's a nice idea though.

A purple soup with dumplings in a blue bowl.
I grew some stuff and then I made a purple stew (whip, whip, whip, whip). Ok, really it's a soup.

A black bunny and a white bunny eating a treat while a tabby cat watches.
Bunnies got a chew toy/treat and somebody is jealous. I keep trying to tell Pete the Cat he is an obligate carnivore and doesn't have the right teeth for chewing bunny toys. He's still not convinced.

A marigold blooming.
My chocolate peppers think they've got plenty of time before first frost. Did they not notice it was 40ยฐ F last night? Get ripe already! (I've been using them green.)
Also finally got a marigold. The plants have just been growing taller and taller all summer.

A black and white chicken with wet feathers.
She's as mad as a middle age wet hen...
Marta gave me a scare this week and spent a day in the dog crate in the barn and another day in the quarantine condo.
She seems to be doing better now and has had a bath to wash off the dried diarrhea.
She's not really mad now that the bath is done.

The annual tomato massacre has happened. Nights are getting cooler and first frost doesn't seem so distant. In fact two friends outside of town already had frost pockets and lost their basil.

A wooden planter with pepper plants growing in it.
Bell pepper plants with flowers and small peppers.
I still can't get over how much easier it is to garden one USDA zone warmer. I've gotten so many peppers and there are more in there. Though the chickens let me know the cage is not chicken proof last night and ate a few peppers.

I finally hung up my shovels and rakes and implements of destruction! Ok, technically i only have one rake. Anyways, I rewarded myself by going to the hardware store and buying more pegs for the pegboard.

I grew a delicious fresh dinner and they decided the leftover plastic bits of cover was the tastiest part. I snatched dinner back and carefully peeled off all the last bits of cover. Now it's not interesting. Then the automatic feeder rained kibble, so they really don't want it. I tried.

The last maranta I had died a sad dehydrated death. This one has more than doubled in size in the few months I've had it and flowered. Sometimes, full sun isn't what plants want.
