But I have pictures from that day and they are date stamped, so I googled Conan and that date and it popped right up... youtu.be/IWbaT-aS9oQ?...

My memory for these things is usually really solid, but I was struggling here. We definitely went and I do remember standing backstage while famous people wandered around us, but could not recall this specifically.

New article by me: The music industry largely fails to account for collector behavior in its vinyl release strategies. I'm planning to put out a series of related articles over the next couple of months, so you may see extra vinyl content from me for a while.

You were definitely a favorite target of theirs. In the end, there was very little that could really be attributed to me, save for 1 or 2 angst-fueled moments.

That's a deep cut, sir.

Mike wrote an important one. I've been trying to put this situation into these terms and could not have outdone this. Also, Mike's reach is much greater than mine. For now.

Elon’s Twitter Destruction Playbook Hits The US Government, And It’s Even More Dangerous Remember how Elon Musk destroyed Twitter by ripping apart its infrastructure without understanding it? Now imagine that same playbook applied to the federal government. It’s happening, and th…

Frustrated there's not more I can do directly, but for now I can just try to document reality. Elon is bringing his Twitter destruction playbook to the US government, and it's impossible to explain just how serious and bad this is.

I'm devastated by Bob Uecker's death. Though I'm not certain, and though there certainly are other great radio voices in baseball out there, I'm pretty sure the only contemporary specific comparison to a Milwaukee Brewers fan's relationship with Bob Uecker would be that of Dodgers fans with Vin Scully. Dodgers fans tell stories of hearing Vin Scully's voice from open car windows, from a handheld radio in every fifth seat at Dodger Stadium. Brewers fans tell stories of Bob Uecker's voice echoing from radios throughout the tailgating parties outside now-American Family Field, then-Miller Park, and its demolished predecessor County Stadium. The smell of grilling bratwurst in the air. The taste of Miller Lite on ice.

And Bob Uecker.

This essay isn't about the famous stories, the standup routines, Major League or Mr. Belvedere or Johnny Carson appearances or anything like that. It's about my personal experience with Bob Uecker's magical, hilarious, lyrical baseball voice and personality through the decades, calling baseball games for the Milwaukee Brewers on Milwaukee's WTMJ 620AM. These are the stories not told far and wide by the great writers and former ballplayers. These are my memories of how Bob Uecker could make an ordinary game into a memory carved permanently, perfectly into the essence of one's baseball fandom. My baseball fandom. These are my memories of the day-to-day Brewers broadcasts, scattered and random Tuesdays and Sundays.

As a part of today's distract-from-the-horrors newsletter, subscriber @natocoles.bsky.social offered some wonderful words about Bob Uecker. It's worth your time on a day when thinking about good people and good things should be be at the top of your agenda. www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...

You know...this was a predictable outcome, but instead of "Quick, we have to beef up security", I wish the CEO reaction could be, "Hey, maybe we should knock off all that evil".

Top: me with my first rare record variant purchase, 1994. Bottom: a test pressing from the first run at Outta Wax Record Pressing, which began pressing this summer.

It's tough to overstate how exciting it is to be at this stage. It's been a long road, but we're making good records!

Yes, in fact! We are recycling everything we can and are partnering with a European company to offer a bioplastic they have developed (still in testing).

I was not! I got there in 1985, so probably too late to have seen these. Crazy.
