Anyways, I’m only on book 4, but I’m excited to add to my list. The books were formative, and I wanted to see if Mia was autistic coded like I remembered (definitely is).

I’m listening to the audiobooks on Libby, and Anne Hathaway narrated the first 3

The Princess Diaries movies exist in this universe, and there’s a meta plot line where her friend Lilly complains to the producers for how she was portrayed.

Mia calls into question the entire plot of the second one, citing it as really fucking weird that she’d HAVE to get married because PRINCESS

Her grandma isn’t a sweet, but tough, Julie Andrews. She’s a chain smoker with a hairless dog, who is always making fun of poor people and drinking a sidecar. As a millennial girl with a terrible grandmother I hated, this was wonderful. Grandmas almost never get to be horrible in media.

If you’re saying “wow, I didn’t know they were books.”- yes, and the books are better. The books go hard. Mia was always right around my age, so they were incredibly relatable.
