We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

I've spent the past few weeks wanting to go and see the dino film, but the captioned showings around me have always fallen on days and times I can't do.

I'll be renting it as a digital release in a few weeks and having a lil watch party. I hate that I can't just go and see it like everyone else.

The most easily accessible cinema to me has turned into a Vue, meaning I am treated to one captioned showing per week.

And just to be clear, I don't mean per film. I mean one captioned showing per week full stop.

Hey, just wanted to come and say thank you for this advice! I had mine this morning and I wore a long dress and slides to my appointment, and it made the whole process so much easier. The nurse even commented to say how prepared I was! I was in and out in five mins ❤️

I've had to ask for someone to repeat announcements on trains too many times for me to doubt why I deserve the discount.

Train travel is also incredibly stressful for deaf people. Last minute platform changes announced on a loudspeaker? Not knowing what is happening as everyone starts running? Genuinely awful.

This could definitely be concentration fatigue from video calls, but I'm not sure. I just know that by the end of the week, my brain feels like mush and everyone is speaking gobbledygook.

As I'm now working from home, I spend much less time wearing my hearing aids. The unintended consequence of this is that I think my ability to process sound is waning.

Thing is, I don't enjoy wearing my HAs at home as I find noises distract me from my work.

What do I do? 😅

You may very well meet a deaf person listening to music with headphones someday, or meet a blind person looking at something on their phone screen. Most deaf people can hear things. Most blind people can see things. No one is faking it. You can actually just leave us alone. 🙏
