My book about WW1 on the Italian Front.

This new(ish) book is fascinating. It’s about the search for the identity of a soldier who melted out of the Popera Glacier in 1983. He was killed in one of the avalanches that overwhelmed the Italians on November 9, 1916. You can read about these extraordinary events, in English, in #TiTM.

Ik denk dat het vooral de landen in de regio zich nu zorgen maken. Als Iran raketten op je afstuurt, is een aanslag op je staatshoofd ook een mogelijkheid. Zeker als het Iraanse regime voor zijn overleven vecht of zelfs denkt dat het niet zal overleven

Ze hebben als individu allebei rechten (maar er zijn extra praktische belemmeringen bij het ontvoeren/arresteren van mensen) maar het doden van staatshoofden heeft consequenties voor andere staatshoofden. Elk staatshoofd is nu een potentieel doelwit geworden.

Osama bin Laden was gewoon een terrorist, Khamenei is daarnaast ook nog een staatshoofd. Dat maakt toch verschil voor hoe wij met ze om moeten gaan. Dat ze elkaar daarna een handje kunnen geven in de hel is buiten onze bevoegdheden
