Not a fan of HaDemocratim takes on Iran or West Bank/Gaza, but inside the Green Line, they've been making a sincere effort to uphold the legitimacy of Arab citizens, Arab-led parties. (i24 is shocked they could be doing this 'in the middle of a war'.) www.i24news.tv/he/news/news...

The closest I've seen to that is what Golan posted yesterday - stressing the absence of efforts by Netanyahu to turn military achievements into diplomatic results. One might understand that as calling for the war to end right now, but he doesn't say that outright. www.facebook.com/reel/8988617...

Thanks for sharing this - but this is puzzling! Folks are searching for the original tweet on Golan's timeline; it doesn't seem to be there. Some are claiming this is fake. But why? Perhaps Golan posted and deleted? He has a habit of saying disruptive things and then backtracking.

Standing Together co-director @alonlee.bsky.social asks on the Musksite: "Where is the HaDemocratim party? How is it that they're swallowing Netanyahu's lies and backing his war" in full?
It's a legit question: Not trusting Netanyahu should mean not trusting his narrative. x.com/AlonLeeGreen...

That's very much appreciated. I agree that the corrected headline might seem kind of baffling to readers - but I think that properly expresses the kind of baffling sample used by JPPI. The headline is crucial, since studies indicate that about 3/4 of all social media readers don't read beyond it.

And, as @samthegeek.net, noted, "That 16% married to a non-Jewish spouse number is suspiciously low as well". Correct: Pew in 2020 found that "fully 42% of all currently married Jewish respondents indicate they have a non-Jewish spouse". www.pewresearch.org/religion/202...

Yes, very much so. The 2020 Pew finding was "42% of all currently married Jewish respondents indicate they have a non-Jewish spouse.". So JPPI terribly undersamples that. www.pewresearch.org/religion/202...

The JTA reporting mentions the methodology. But headlines have more power than the ensuing text and they need to correct that headline.

Disclosure: I've been a participant over the years in these Jewish People Policy Institute polls. Today I asked them to remove me from their "respondent panel" unless they commit to no longer misrepresenting their findings as being representative of Jewish Americans overall.

Example: Here's the JPPI participant data - left. Note that only 14% are "unaffiliated". Reliable, responsible polling, e.g. Pew, has no denominational identity at more than double that - 32% (and 'no affiliation' would've yielded an even higher number). www.pewresearch.org/religion/202....

The @jta.org headline is simply wrong; please amend. JPPI itself acknowledges that it polls "connected" Jews, not Jews overall, meaning disproportionally more denominationally affiliated Jews and those who've lived in Israel, and less intermarried Jews. www.jta.org/2026/03/09/i...

All the polls on the U.S. war in Iran so far According to a simple average of new high-quality surveys, 38% of Americans approve and 49% disapprove of U.S. military action in Iran. When ignoring "don't know" respondents, 56% disapprove

“The new war in Iran is very unpopular… worst-ever-support-for-war-when-it-started unpopular.

With just 38% of Americans in favor, support for bombing Iran is lower than retrospective support for the war in Iraq was in 2014.”
