Not a fan of HaDemocratim takes on Iran or West Bank/Gaza, but inside the Green Line, they've been making a sincere effort to uphold the legitimacy of Arab citizens, Arab-led parties. (i24 is shocked they could be doing this 'in the middle of a war'.) www.i24news.tv/he/news/news...

Thanks for sharing this - but this is puzzling! Folks are searching for the original tweet on Golan's timeline; it doesn't seem to be there. Some are claiming this is fake. But why? Perhaps Golan posted and deleted? He has a habit of saying disruptive things and then backtracking.

Standing Together co-director @alonlee.bsky.social asks on the Musksite: "Where is the HaDemocratim party? How is it that they're swallowing Netanyahu's lies and backing his war" in full?
It's a legit question: Not trusting Netanyahu should mean not trusting his narrative. x.com/AlonLeeGreen...

Happy to report that @jta.org has updated its headline, which is now: "68% of ‘connected’ American Jews support the US-Israel war against Iran, survey finds". The question remains whether a poll with this kind of sampling should even be covered. www.jta.org/2026/03/09/i...

That's very much appreciated. I agree that the corrected headline might seem kind of baffling to readers - but I think that properly expresses the kind of baffling sample used by JPPI. The headline is crucial, since studies indicate that about 3/4 of all social media readers don't read beyond it.

And, as @samthegeek.net, noted, "That 16% married to a non-Jewish spouse number is suspiciously low as well". Correct: Pew in 2020 found that "fully 42% of all currently married Jewish respondents indicate they have a non-Jewish spouse". www.pewresearch.org/religion/202...

The JTA reporting mentions the methodology. But headlines have more power than the ensuing text and they need to correct that headline.

Disclosure: I've been a participant over the years in these Jewish People Policy Institute polls. Today I asked them to remove me from their "respondent panel" unless they commit to no longer misrepresenting their findings as being representative of Jewish Americans overall.

Example: Here's the JPPI participant data - left. Note that only 14% are "unaffiliated". Reliable, responsible polling, e.g. Pew, has no denominational identity at more than double that - 32% (and 'no affiliation' would've yielded an even higher number). www.pewresearch.org/religion/202....

But original responsibility lies with the Jewish People Policy Institute, which gives the impression in this Israeli TV interview (other site) that its poll reflects representative sample of Jewish Americans (notwithstanding the disclaimer buried deep on its poll results page). x.com/JewishPolicy...

68% of American Jews support the US-Israel war against Iran, survey finds - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
The results suggest U.S. Jews are more supportive than Americans overall but less than Israeli Jews.
The @jta.org headline is simply wrong; please amend. JPPI itself acknowledges that it polls "connected" Jews, not Jews overall, meaning disproportionally more denominationally affiliated Jews and those who've lived in Israel, and less intermarried Jews. www.jta.org/2026/03/09/i...

Opinion | The ‘Arrogance of Power’ Drives War in Iran
"The same kind of giddy expectation" characterized 2001 Afghanistan, says Nicholas Kristof. "We squandered $2.4 trillion and countless lives in Afghanistan ..., and I don't see much better prospect" for results in Iran. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/07/o...

All the polls on the U.S. war in Iran so far
According to a simple average of new high-quality surveys, 38% of Americans approve and 49% disapprove of U.S. military action in Iran. When ignoring "don't know" respondents, 56% disapprove
“The new war in Iran is very unpopular… worst-ever-support-for-war-when-it-started unpopular.
With just 38% of Americans in favor, support for bombing Iran is lower than retrospective support for the war in Iraq was in 2014.”

Appreciate all 6 discussants, but most identify with R' Jill Jacobs: "The word 'Zionism' has largely ceased to be useful ... It prevents us from having an actual conversation about the state of Israel, which is not an idea ...; it’s a country" that, "like any other state has to follow int'l law".

Buffeted on the left and the right, these liberal Zionists are holding their ground - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
A virtual roundtable of Jewish activists reflects on political homelessness, progressive alliances and the case for loving and criticizing Israel.
Missing from this interesting conversation is how the term 'Zionism' and its corollary 'Jewish state' impact political identity of Jewish Israelis, rather than Americans. In Israel, powerful political forces base support for Jewish privilege, supremacy on these concepts. www.jta.org/2026/03/05/i...

Even Though the PM Is the Son of a Historian, Reads a Great Deal and Is Extraordinarily Intelligent, He Is Not a Gifted Strategist, Says Bauer in Major Interview.

Time to End the American-Israeli Alliance
Alliances are built on shared interests. Those do not exist here.
Sentiments like this are being thrust into the mainstream, Koplow notes. "Pick your foreign relations school of thought: hard-nosed realpolitik, liberal internationalism, socialist humanitarianism, or ... brute selfishness; this 'alliance' makes no sense."

Poll: Netanyahu’s Likud enjoys boost amid Iran war, but not enough to clinch election win
Likud's increase from 27 to 31 projected seats comes at the expense of PM's coalition partners, leaving both major political blocs unchanged, deadlocked in election year
The headline is misleading. Bottom line: Netanyahu's bloc gets zero war bump (despite nearly across-the-board Jewish Israeli support for war); additional support for Likud all at the expense of his allies, Ben-Gvir's party, Shas, and UTJ. Poll taken March 4-5. www.timesofisrael.com/poll-netanya...
