Thanks for sharing this - but this is puzzling! Folks are searching for the original tweet on Golan's timeline; it doesn't seem to be there. Some are claiming this is fake. But why? Perhaps Golan posted and deleted? He has a habit of saying disruptive things and then backtracking.

That's very much appreciated. I agree that the corrected headline might seem kind of baffling to readers - but I think that properly expresses the kind of baffling sample used by JPPI. The headline is crucial, since studies indicate that about 3/4 of all social media readers don't read beyond it.

The JTA reporting mentions the methodology. But headlines have more power than the ensuing text and they need to correct that headline.

Disclosure: I've been a participant over the years in these Jewish People Policy Institute polls. Today I asked them to remove me from their "respondent panel" unless they commit to no longer misrepresenting their findings as being representative of Jewish Americans overall.

Example: Here's the JPPI participant data - left. Note that only 14% are "unaffiliated". Reliable, responsible polling, e.g. Pew, has no denominational identity at more than double that - 32% (and 'no affiliation' would've yielded an even higher number). www.pewresearch.org/religion/202....
