View across lichen-covered roofs, some red tile, some slate, and past the upper storeys of old red-brick buildings, to the sea. The sea is calm and the sky is blue and there is a clear winter light.

An overhead view of a loupe on a page of printed text, in which only the two or three letters visible through the lens (the second and third of which are 'le', the first unclear) are in focus.

That's worked out well. 😀 It's just far enough away from here that it kind of demands a full day, which is probably why we haven't got round to it recently. One of these days.

Front-on view of a modern yellow-brick end-terrace house of three storeys, with pale grey/blue front door on the left and white garage door on the right. In front of it a path curves through short grass and a lamppost stands to the left and appears very slightly taller than the house. The shot is blue.

Very nice. Must be the best part of ten years since I've been up there. Spent a pleasant day at the beach.

This is great. If anyone needs me I'll be spending the rest of the day playing with the Relight Viewer on the punch for the letter h

I love this. The crispness and the colours.

A leaning gravestone in long grass, with a hedge behind and trees thick with growth behind that, one nearer tree central in the picture. The sky is overcast.

A view of the entrance to a lane between two old whitewashed shops in Cockermouth, with black-lined windows and black stones up the corner of the taller building. Three people are walking down the lane. The sky is pale blue with a cotton-wool tuft of cloud in the top corner.

A pristine tarmac road curves past a lamppost and an old whitewashed building with a mossy, corrugated pitched roof, a large blue door, and small windows. The building is constructed on a slope so that at one corner there is only one storey above ground and at the opposite corner two. There are more low white buildings in the distance, behind a sea wall, and beyond that a slight hill. It is a grey day.

A pollarded tree with bright winter light catching the bark. It is in a lowish thin hedge (faced with red plastic safety tape)with a marina behind it, and Ely Cathedral just peeping over some distant buildings.

A red-brick hut on the edge of a park, with a mossy slate roof and green double doors. Its walls have graffiti on them. Behind us a large tree, and more trees further off; in front is tarmac with a one-way arrow for cars painted on the ground. There is bright winter light but pale grey cloud.

A partial view of a grand, stone stately home, with two large sash windows on the top floor, and two even larger below that. There are stone steps running across the front of the house with three people walking up them, and there is an unoccupied bench in front.

A rooftop with two chimneys visible, and a bare wintry tree, silhouetted by a sunset of gold and purple that is also illuminating a cloud from below with golden light.

I'd like to repost a bit but don't - I've always felt awkward about the split between my historical stuff and followers (largely other historians) and my photographs. I don't want feel I'm filling photographers' feeds up with history things, or historians' feeds up with miscellaneous pictures.

A late winter's afternoon view across tall reeds, with the muddy edge of the river at the bottom of the picture, to the (largely red and pink, occasionally white) houses of the village of Snape. There is very pale, thin grey cloud in a very light blue sky.
