It is also difficult for me because it's hard to not just... say, the thing, that the writers were referencing, from the books, which is clearly what they meant, but that thing hasn't been said in the show- I'm saying that the show says Marius's painting is from Venice, but never that Armand is.

I fixed show!Armand's wiki article, officially having fixed the four most major characters' articles, and truly cementing my dislike of writing articles for a visual media where it's harder for me to double check my work, and for media where we could get retconned at any moment.

Trader Joe's is organized according to the whims of an insane person who thinks they can see the future. Is a potato a vegetable? No! It is a carb, except the potatoes that are breakfast carbs. Is a plantain a fruit! Nope, it's just Mexican, which is its own thing! Tea is in a different dimension!

A rough week of being a person is always made much acutely worse and then more sustainably better by going to Trader Joe's. Oh, if I spend thirty minutes in the Overstimulus Stress Nexus I can have food and shampoo and things I like? What devil's bargain is that! Yet I do it, and now have good food.

Having watched all of season four of Bridgerton now, after not having seen prior seasons, my review is that wow, moving images and noises coming from my television sure are better than sitting in silence when my brain isn't working! Man I wish I could tell the characters apart by personality.

Eventually I'm going to write something about adaptations that doesn't mention AMC's IWTV, but this was not one of those days.

My friend has reached, as we all do, this point with Lestat in the books:

When I moved away a bunch of people asked me how the hell I was moving without taking my dog with me. He had an amazing family though, and I'm glad he had them, and I'm glad I knew him. Just a walking embodiment of joy, that stupid dog.

He was an English Golden Retriever, so a total puffball as a baby, and a giant monster grown up. He wanted love all the time so I'd let him sit by my desk by the door, but he'd always try to get past me and onto my couch. I petsit for him a few times, hugged him during a lot of dark times for me.

When I was in CA I moved into this tiny house in a family's backyard under not ideal circumstances, and like a week later they got their first puppy. He would hang out in the backyard, and my house was also in the backyard, so when he was bored he'd sit on my stoop and cry until I let him in.

I have been feeling really off all weekend, and then I found out that the dog that used to try cry at my front door every day, who I loved so much, passed away Thurs. He wasn't around as long as he should have been, but no dog is. Just light in animal form, that guy.

also yes I am aware of, and hopefully that awareness comes across in the essay, the irony of the fact that the bulk of this essay is about a show I don't watch based on a book I've never read, and a movie I've not seen based on a book I didn't like and don't remember very well

This essay builds on a few of the ideas in the old one, but is mostly me trying to explain more about the point I was trying to make in this paragraph: that everyone is always upset about something in an adaptation they've not seen yet, and how that can be either neutral or bad:

I re-read my essay about adaptations and wanted to clarify the section where I talk about the race and time period changes in IWTV, and expand on the topic, since I didn't feel like I captured my point really well.

So I wrote this essay that isn't about IWTV at all (well, one paragraph) instead:

And before I get too much more on a roll, I really hated that they had him make the offhand comment about being single, and that making sense or whatever he said. Just saying he's single or him making a joke about it would be different, the way they did it felt like the writer never met a fat person

It would have felt more natural to have him continually try to ignore and not be bothered by the comments, while the other doctors react to them, or for him to have gotten a lot angrier a lot sooner. This is an older man, he doesn't give that speech to every doctor who disrespects him. It's cheap.

A doctor asking a patient if they've considered different weight loss techniques during a life threatening emergency shouldn't come off as bad just because the patient is fat for a reason. It's bad because it's abhorrent, and it leads to medical neglect. Feels artificial because of that.
