'Completely bowled us over': The horror show drawing thousands to SF theater Shows are already extended due toΒ "overwhelming demand."

I've read two reviews of Paranormal Activity and neither mentioned the thing I found most compelling...

the audience was mostly in their 20s and 30s.

I wrote the speech I *wish* Chuck Schumer would give tonight - as an actual opposition leader. Here it is:

"My fellow Americans: At this hour, an unrestrained force of militarized and violent federal officers is carrying out a project of ethnic cleansing in the streets of American cities."

Home - Hispanic Research Center Research to help programs and policy better serve low-income Hispanics children and families.

Because federal funding was cancelled, the National Research Center on Hispanic Children & Families is no longer active. The website remains a vital space for research, resources, and facts about families but don't expect it to be adding new content.

On Dec 4, 1965, the Grateful Dead performed at the Merry Prankster's San Jose acid test. It wasn't a great show given everyone's state of mind, but all of the elements we love are there! Never forget that "you are the eyes of the world"

Robert Putnam and @richardreeves.bsky.social collaborated on a thoughtful essay connecting today's crisis among boys and men to the 1900s.

In response, my colleague Bill Fabricius submitted a response with some findings from our Parents and Youth Study.

These are weird times. If you can assign an incomplete grade rather than fail a student, I hope you will consider it.

01.07.2025 21:37 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The advantage of an incomplete is that faculty can give students a chance to earn the grade they were on track to receive and students don't lose out on the tuition costs.

Plus, faculty rarely operate according to deadlines...things are ready when they are done.

01.07.2025 21:37 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The disadvantage of an incomplete for faculty is that we need to nudge students or change the timing of due dates in online learning platforms and are expected to grade papers that should have been submitted long ago.

01.07.2025 21:37 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The disadvantage of an incomplete (I) grade is that students sometimes forget about the I and aren't motivated to go back in time to a semester to do the required work and end up with the lower grade anyhow.
