So glad you enjoyed the show!
@standupmaths.bsky.social still has plenty more tour dates upcoming if you want to see me be play the role of Stagehand Aylieanโจ
Itโs your only chance to catch me wearing all black!
The layers of nerdery here ๐
let me explainโฆ!
@wordle-tetris.bsky.social is day by day showing the frames of a Tetris game played on Wordle
and does-it-glider.com is one of my fave weird internet artefacts, where you run your wordle score through Conwayโs Game of Life to see if it forms a glider๐ค๐
Tetris Wordle game 2 is going strong, but the real question โฆ
DOES ๐ IT ๐ GLIDER? ๐
A Wordle screenshot showing clump, minty, react, great, plump, tacky. The yellow squares light up in the shape of a zigzag Tetris piece
This was my attempt at todayโs Wordle Tetris (definitely not done at 15mins past midnight)

Ooooh day 2 of Wordle Tetris is going well!
Also, lil bonus game, you can do your wordle as normal and then attempt wordle Tetris manually - I didnโt match with any of @wordle-tetris.bsky.social words but I did manage to make the Tetris frame!
Tโwas a heroic effort to ROTATE THE L, but alas!

I love whatโs going on over at @wordle-tetris.bsky.social
I hacked car charging to work with my electric bike!

Shape nerds ASSEMBLE!
(In an icosahedral symmetry formation)
Thatโs how mathsโll getcha! And then after a while you wonder if anyone actually uses these words, but you do now, so you become the perpetuator of this obscure maths vocab!
22.02.2026 20:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh definitely send me a link to that! Iโm working my way through shapes wolfram alpha mentions as having Eulerian paths because they could be done with one balloon whereas things like a cube couldnโt
22.02.2026 20:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Oh that is so cool! Iโm just a humble maths nerd in it for that shapes but itโs always fascinating to learn what they do in the โreal worldโ

Small Rhombicosidodecahedron if u even care.
I know it can be made with a single (incredibly long) modelling balloon because every vertex only has four lines coming from it, so it has an โจEulerian pathโจ
Not sure what phase of my life Iโm in, but hereโs that modelling balloon icosidodecahedron nobody asked for!
In theory it could be made out of a single modelling balloon, although in reality they donโt make balloons long enough :(
Well thatโs none of my bismuth

What mistake has happened in my phone to make it tell me the sun is going to go down at 12.36pm in Dundee today?!
All the other locations are showing the normal depressing time of 4.30ish!
The @ima-maths.bsky.social seems quite proud they invited BAE to speak at their conference.
I am so so disappointed that an institution which normally funds sweet creative maths projects and supports maths communities has chosen to platform BAE Systems which produces munitions used in genocide.
16 red squares in total!
30.09.2025 15:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My cute sausagey dog in a car looking bemused as I hold out a puzzle cube themed dog toy. The cube shows three yellow pieces around one corner, two red central cubes and two identical edge pieces.
Nice try human, Iโm not wasting time solving that impossible cube.
Treats now.
Itโs not too late for the @ima-maths.bsky.social to un-invite them or just entirely bin that conference all together.
It is possible to take a stand, not doing so would be a choice - maths is not neutral.
A screenshot reading โInstitute of Maths and its Applicationsโ 8th IMA Conference on Mathematics in Defence and Security Mathematics for Decision Supportโ
Phillips Payne (BAE Systems) is product technical lead for mission effectiveness at BAE Systems, Air, supporting both current and future global combat air programmes. Based in the Chief Engineerโs Office, she helps ensure next-generation fighter heat integrate cutting-edge technology.
BAE systems. The worlds seventh largest weapons manufacturer, U.K. company BAE Systems manufactures the M109 howitzer, a 155mm mobile artillery system that the Israeli military has been using extensively, firing tens of thousands of 155mm shells into the Gaza Strip. Screenshot from afsc.org
BAE also manufactures electronic missile launching kits and other components for Israelโs F-15, F-16, and F-35 fighter jets, which the Israeli Air Force has used extensively in all of its attacks on Gaza, including in 2023. Screenshot from afsc.org
I donโt think that @ima-maths.bsky.social should be inviting speakers from BAE Systems to speak at their conference when BAE manufactures weapons which are used by Israel in the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
That sounds like Maths being complicit to me.

Aww that sucks that you were the only young woman in your class! Hopefully something that changes in future.
For this particular instance Iโm not even sure the stat tells an accurate story. Half of all women could have 3 children and half with none and the births per woman would still be 1.5 ๐
Maybe it kinda makes it feel like Iโm expected to give birth to 1.57 childrenโฆ
Or like the birth rate is somehow โwomenโsโ responsibility when there are two people involvedโฆ?
A Google search result for โUK birth rateโ giving a statistic of 1.57 births per woman (2022)
I canโt quite explain it but something about describing a countryโs birth rate in โbirths per womanโ feels really misogynistic.
(As well as the obvious erasure of NB n trans peeps who give birth)
