I don't have the files on hand anymore, unfortunately. And at present I'm not working with Stride engine, though I may contribute back to it in the future.

So on Twitter I would post occasionally about this Vulkan summer project I did, and now I'm thinking about it again, would anyone know any resources about it? Specifically about managing vertex buffers?

It helps me decompress. I swear.

As reward for listening to my long-ass woe about the whole situation, have a first look at Default Guy v2 and the Galileo Assault Rifle for SCREENCLEAR in Stride Engine 4.1.

I would still heavily recommend Stride though for porting 3D Unity games to. It's rewarding being on the cutting edge of game development, though it still has its downsides and inconveniences, it's simply not as easy as Unity.
I'm still mad about the whole choice but hey, win some lose some. [3/3]

However this is a huge amount of work and refactoring as I go along is definitely taking a lot of time.

I can shave off some tech debt and probably a lot of weight from switching off of Unity so I'm electing to focus there.

In vast contrast to my previous post, the Stride porting is still going well but there's so many minute differences. Like certain things are returned as doubles instead of floats, and vernacular for the same thing is either less verbose or more verbose. It's doable and will continue to happen, [1/?]

The Stride Engine port is going remarkably well. There's jank but the featureset is practically Unity. I even figured out a scriptable object alternative! That said, so much more to do, but at least it's getting somewhere!

Godot is definitely not it. .NET is too poorly implemented to move my project over. However... Stride Engine is looking very promising. It's a full .NET engine but does leave some to be desired, but it is fully open-source and full .NET. This could be the one. May try UnrealCLR too, as a treat.

So I did like 2 hours of Godot...

The Inspector is very blocky compared to Unity and on one hand I'm glad there's nearly no bloat but on the other hand C# is definitely the second class language, but I refuse to use faux-Python.

Least C# works at all, which is fortunate.

Ey bros. So Elon's scraping data from X with an AI for content delivery, Unity is currently under an implosion almost as fast as that submarine a few weeks back, and I'm looking for Godot resources Especially Godot with .NET, C# is my main language and I'd rather not abandon it.

Adding a post-connect method that gets called whenever the parent node is set.

Spent the larger part of an hour trying to figure out why this one specific node in a node tree wouldn't connect to the rest...

Turns out it was trying to access the data in the tree before it was attached to it... and it threw an exception that provided no info on where to fix it.

Gotta love it.

I'm iDrmzIt, solo programmer and developer on Screenclear. I've been working with Unity doing mods since 2016, moving to my own game in late 2021.
