If you are making costumes specifically my most recommended book is the Costume Technicians handbook. lt looks like it is out of print but I did find it on used sites or on the internet archive

consider making sure your fire extinguishers are still valid and also, for those who are disabled or chronically ill, consider easier methods of protection such as fire blankets and canned extinguisher sprays for easier solutions on top of all of this to keep yourself safe<3
