The idea that kids owe their parents grandchildren is ridiculous.

I know at least one of my three has been adamant since she was a teenager that she will not have kids. She loves them and works with them, and doesn’t want to being any into the world. (My parents are v traditional but also NEVER pressured my brother or me — & ended up w/7 grandkids.)

had to force myself tonight and it was awful to prep and clean up, but the meal turned out great and I was glad I did it.

their kids in my classes at school, not understanding yet what my dad's career trajectory was going to be (he ended up designing weapons, which fucked him up mentally & emotionally, just as you'd think it would). Remembering 1990, remembering 2001, have forgotten so much else.

i washed and dried my sheets and made my bed while my cat supervised. i read john ashbery poems poolside while remembering all my dad's Iranian, Lebanese, and Pakistani engineering classmates in the engineering program at the U of Kentucky in the early 80s, them & their wives & kids hosting picnics,

it was warm enough on feb 28 to spend 3 hours swimming. a group of families came out to the pool & grilled food that reminded me of the best parts of my childhood. my niece's beloved just went to basic training last week. world leaders are doing their damnedest to eradicate children & trans people.
