@pepsmccrea.bsky.social has succinctly and concretely described the current landscape of SEND provision in schools.
We must make sure that classrooms and schools are inclusive by design - ensuring that instruction and assessment secure progress for all students!

Physics, like so many fields, depends on global talent and strong university communities.
To remain at the forefront of innovation, we must stay open, welcoming, and supportive of those working to shape our future. (2/2)

Iβve been at a couple of events focused on creating more inclusive schools recently, and itβs such a disconnect between what behaviour some people think schools should accept to be inclusive, and how chaotic, unsafe and non inclusive a school would be if it actually allowed that behaviour.

Great to see a focus on high expectations of young people with SEN and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, with genuine consideration of how they can best be served!
I feel 'evolution not revolution' will not only support students but also the wellbeing of all staff in education.

This week's key takeaway - 'despite our instincts around individuality, the way people learn is actually way more similar than it is different'
This is why underpinning practise in cognitive science and memory models is pivotal!

Too many of our SEND interventions make provision worse
We must call out unevidenced practices and debunked ideas pervading EHCPs
@bennewmark.bsky.social
'EHCPs and documents like Pupil Passports often include adaptations and interventions for which there is no evidence of efficacy beyond placebo or Hawthorne effects'
As a psychology graduate in education, this has always resonated with me
