1 year of faculty life in the books! Definitely not easy to begin with, and this year threw unique challenges out there, but UND has been the perfect home to settle into this. Big things on the way in Year 2.

I'll always appreciate this place for taking the chance on me to be its hurricane guy. 🌀

As a re-intro of sorts, I consider my niche here to be more as a teacher than just another forecasting voice. We have plenty of wacky acronyms and diagrams in hurricane world, so I like to focus on making the science a little easier to follow.

Assuming my students don't concuss me by throwing tomatoes for having a Friday final...

MADE IT THROUGH YEAR 1 OF FACULTY LIFE!!!!!

(...what a year 😅 despite sooooo much out of my control, this job is everything I hoped it would be)

1. Choose side of driving range with the wind at my back

2. Convince myself I actually drive the ball 350, book tee time for tomorrow

Didn't have 100° before finals week on my "first year in North Dakota" bingo card...

This has been a trying semester for many obvious reasons, and some less obvious (e.g., house hunting).

Last Friday, our undergrad students named me "Best Junior/Senior Professor" and "Most Available Professor" at our end-of-year banquet. A boost I'm very thankful for.
