"Trans joy" is also a bit too vague. I'm not sure if all or even most of the joy I experience is a trans joy. Maybe it suffers a bit from an early transition focus, which is not an uncommon problem.

I think focusing on trans joy is perfectly fine and can be good, it only gets annoying when it's shallow and used to rhetorically dismiss negative trans emotions and experiences.

like you can say it looks like a lot of trans people are planning to or have already moved based on some initial polling, but the specific large number figure seems like a bit of a reach

skeptical about the "400,000+" number getting thrown around about trans people moving since the number doesn't seem to have fidelity with the construction / limits of the poll it's based on

Originally I pitched my book as a book on transphobic comedy so it's nice to still have that as a main throughway even with the broader focus (transphobic laughter in one chapter -> transphobic comedy in the next chapter)

Next I'll get my chapter on transphobic comedy fully finished! Drawing from the sections of my dissertation on Ricky Gervais (yes I have a chapter on Ricky Gervais in my dissertation) and fusing it with my essays on Graham Linehan and Dave Chappelle!

This chapter (now in full written draft form!) is basically (1) reframing and expanding my "Laughing at Trans Women" essay (2) to include additional vile examples & (3) weigh in on the cruel game of attention played by the Trump administration and appeals to agentless public polls.
