The Victoria Crowned Pigeon (Goura victoria) is classed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List with a decreasing population trend. It is endemic to Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. The species is found in a variety of forests in mostly the humid lowlands, but can occur up to 600 metres above sea level. Its diet includes seeds, fruits and invertebrates. It is threatened severely by hunting for meat and its beautiful feathers, as well as habitat loss.

We broke the system, but we can repair some of it.

A softly sunlit small brown bird with a thickly striped black and white head, a small yellow patch just in front of its black eye, gray cheek, white throat, gray chest and sides, and a white belly stands on a roughly barked knob in profile facing left against a bright blue sky. It is slightly puffed up against the cold and has its head turned just very slightly toward the camera giving it a sweet contentedly happy innocent look.
