Oofโ€ฆ.I assumed it was a trilogy. I am reading these because my friendโ€™s 13 year old daughter wanted to share them with me, I didnโ€™t fully realize what I signed up for haha.

Yeah, definitely not my usually read but I feel like the authors writing improved into this book and Iโ€™m curious to see how the third one goes.

It most definitely does that. Seems like they went hard on that at first so that they can lean into the โ€œwatch her change himโ€ plot.

I am still not the target audience for this series but I was able to get more into this book than the first. The story was more exciting for me and character development was well done.

54. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: Agatha Christie

My first Christie book and I highly enjoyed it. I correctly guessed the killer pretty early on but I assume thatโ€™s due to tropes being copied from this author over the years. Regardless, I appreciate the journey.

This is right up there with The Hearts Invisible Furies and Dungeon Crawler Carl as one of my favorite books. Look up trigger warnings and some parts may be problematic, but after 9,994 lives everything has happened.

Wanted to try out my first thriller. Still not sure I got the genre right but really enjoyed this book. Had no idea where it was going, fed you clues at a good pace, and really kept me engaged.

I definitely enjoyed the first book more but still found myself entertained by this follow up. I would recommend this dualogy for anyone into folklore and monster legends.

50. Path to Villainy: S.L. Rowland

A fun story. Felt like the end went a little too quickly for me but it was enjoyable to see the โ€œheroโ€ in the story rise with the goal of becoming a villain.

Itโ€™s nice to see Author Steve Rowland find success off the stage.

Slight slow start but once the confession began I was hooked. I also really enjoyed the unique take on vampirism. Not wholly satisfied with the end but would highly recommend.

48. Ring Shout: P. Djeli Clark

What a ride. I had no idea this book was supernatural at all and it was a trip. I like historical fiction and a story of a group of women hunting racists sounds pretty cool as is but then it got delightfully weird and meaningful.

Figured my break from my Cosmere journey had been long enough and it was nice to be back. Lopen and Rysn were already characters I really enjoyed so I loved the focus on them. Easily one of my favorite stories in this world.

Picked up blind at the library and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy supernatural mythology and vibed with the main character. The amount of gay romance I accidentally end up reading has led to some questions from my wife.

44. Killers of the Flower Moon: David Grann

I realize with books I tend to seek out a healthy dose of white guilt. This story I knew nothing about and I am glad I am no longer ignorant of it. Itโ€™s disheartening to see how little has changed in peopleโ€™s hearts.

42. A Wizardโ€™s Guide to Defensive Baking: T. Kingfisher

I am on a T. Kingfisher kick and had heard about this several times even though it was a YA. This was a lot of fun, touch of cozy fantasy with actual stakes and the magic system is a lot of fun.

40. The Haar: David Sodergren

Not even a little bit was this book what I expected it to be. I want 84 year old Scottish women to be the protagonists of every book I read. She was badass. The story was haunting, sad, gruesome, but weirdly sweet and funny.

4 books down, 1 to go. I have an enjoyed this series but can admit a lot of that comes from the narration of the audio books. The voices are very well done. I do like the characters but the plot involves a lot of travel.
