That nurse who scraped me with the needle during my blood draw definitely blew my vein out. I’m bruised black and blue halfway up my arm. I had it done Friday, and it’s still sore. First time I’ve ever had that happen. Lame…

Therapy done. It was brutal, and I feel like I’ve been hit by a train, but like emotionally? The good news is that I’ve started the next doodle!

Right?! This man went to Dalaran, a bright-eyed boy with Kirin Tor aspirations, but they all laughed at his attempts! They laughed at him, so now he summons demons in the sewers with the rest of the punks and outcasts. It’s not a phase, mom!

Yes! A couple of my Zandalari participated in BfA events too. I also have Dih’ta as a field medic for key parts of BfA, but she only agrees to it for the pay. She’s living in Zandalar for most of BfA.

I have one dedicated RP partner, and we both kind of do the same. She calls it “alternate Azeroth” and we make our own lore. She quit playing the game years ago, and hasn’t followed the story progression, and her version of Dalaran still floats over Northrend, for example. Love it!

I have therapy in an hour. If you can’t tell, I’m having a bad mental health day, and I’m doing that thing where I can’t shut up. I’m itching to start on doodles again, but I need to complete the therapy task before I can move on to something else. Drawing will resume shortly.

Mahi’ji is a farmer/fisherman who owns a food truck, and sells fresh fruit by the roadside. He would cry if given that much responsibility.😭

My OC flavors are ‘farmer/bartender/janitor, or criminal’. Ko’tah flunked out of mage school, and became a warlock out of spite. Nadia was an SI:7 agent who killed the wrong guy by accident, then join a pirate crew to fully embrace a life of crime. They are too dysfunctional to be heroes.😅

Same! I have a couple of Zandalari who are royal military, and couldn’t completely avoid the main plot. I focus a lot on their personal lives, and relationships. They’re diplomats, so I can put them into all sorts of fun situations by having them travel.

It really feels this way. Like they just trashed it for shock value. I can’t find a single reason why it was necessary, and I’m forever pissed about it.

I whole heartedly agree. I usually disregard plot choices I don’t like, but I crashed out over this one. I have a whole cast of silly little guys who lived there. They had detailed apartments and a nightclub they worked at, and a story built around it, and they trashed Dalaran for no good reason.

Now, Gazlowe? I would absolutely consider him an interesting hero. He feels like a real person to me. Like someone I could meet at a bar, and strike up a conversation with. Most of the plot of Undermine felt relatable, and the characters felt like the type of blue-collar heroes you see in real life.

I think an interesting hero is partially personal preference, and partially relatability. I can’t get into a hero that I can’t relate to. The knight-in-shining armor who swoops in to save the day is not relatable at all, and doesn’t feel real enough to me.

It is! It’s my safe choice, and give me security. So much of the inspiration I draw upon for my OCs is based off of regular people I’ve known anyway, and regular people can definitely have interesting stories to tell.

I like that! It makes sense to have a separate title just for people living in Nazmir.

Definitely! I know there are at least a couple other tribes, but I think Nazmani is the biggest one. Makes sense.

And I’m not saying that anyone else is doing it wrong if your approach is different. This is just my personal defense mechanism against having to change my OCs lives in ways I don’t want to. I’m just talking for the sake of talking. Your way of doing things is totally valid too, and I respect it.

That’s not to say that I can ALWAYS avoid it. For example, a big chunk of my cast lived in the Underbelly of Dalaran, and Blizz decided to blow Dalaran up(which I HATE). The one saving grace for that writing choice was Undermine(LOVE that). My OCs actually participated quite a bit in Undermine.

My trick to avoid having to deal with canon lore I don’t like when it comes to my OCs is to make them very far removed from events in the main story. My OCs are usually either just average working-class guys, or pirates, and they don’t have to participate in big world events. No champions. No heroes

This is just my head canon, but maybe closer to actual canon, possibly? I’ve never seen a Darkspear calling themselves a jungle troll. They always refer to themselves as Darkspear.

Xeh’kah first hears his mother refered to as a blood troll later in life. His mother, El’veera, had only ever referred to herself as Nazmani, like other trolls refer to themselves by their tribe. I feel like “blood troll” is more of a general label used, and not how they would refer to themselves.
