We just wrapped up in-/ex-situ μ-SR on EMU @isisneutronmuon.bsky.social! We're looking into sodium dynamics in the phases which form when NaNiO2 is electrochemically cycled, and could even measure whilst dis/charging thanks to the Battery and Muon cell!

The reduced degradation is further confirmed by Gas analysis and XAS (I19, @DiamondLightSou) experiments, satisfyingly supported by the DFT calculations where coating showed to stabilised the NMC811 by reducing oxygen oxidation hence limiting the surface reconstruction

This work beautifully demonstrates how ssNMR can be used to detangle minute changes occurring in local coordinates of amorphous coating/interface. Further confirming the reaction between coating and electrolyte species to scavenge as well as protect #NMRchat
