Thank you so much, Deb. No wonder they're eating so much food at the moment!

We don't get badgers, deer, or rabbits! I hope you see hedgehogs in your garden again one day.

It seems late in the year, doesn't it? But I've read up on it and definitely a possibility!

Lots of #hedgehog activity in our garden last night!

One of the hogs looks really young, and the last looks either extremely well fed... or about to give birth. I believe they sometimes have a second litter in September/October. Can anyone tell me for sure, either way, from the video? #wildlife

Recent headlines state 'Numbers of nesting hen harriers in England have risen slightly in 2025'

Dig deeper and the headline lacks context

"Hen Harrier persecution is still so rampant on many driven grouse moors it’s suppressing the distribution of this species at a national level"

Worth a read πŸ‘‡

I'd love to have seen this exhibition by Herefordshire landscape painter, Richard Bavin

I know. I totally agree. Different ways to bring different people on board, I guess...

Then there's the whole question around whether bee and bird nesting boxes do more harm than good, home-made or bought. Sometimes better to engage folk first, then gently point them in a better direction.

It’s book publication day for #GhostsoftheFarm! It’s been a lifetime’s companionable & instructional haunting, & I’m thrilled to bring these women from out the shadows, honour them & raise & address my own rural ghosts. Love & thanks to @chelseagreenbooks.bsky.social & my early readers too x

Absolutely agree. This is just a small part of what they suggest, though, so I wouldn't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Most of the advice on the site is great, but I guess they are also want to appeal to folk who don't have the time (or inclination) to make their own...

I'm looking forward to reading it very much, Ian. So glad I stumbled across it before launching into the concept(s) of 'Rewilding' with my grandson. Much to learn and discuss.

Just read your review in @britishwildlife.bsky.social's newsletter, Ian. Most thought provoking.

Through it, I discovered 'Great Misconceptions'. Sounds like a must read... not least because I'm attempting to study the concept of 'Rewilding' with my 14 yr old (home-ed) grandson this school year!

Me working in my home studio

Sooo…little announcement…I’m starting to paint towards my first solo exhibition! It’s not until the spring, but I’m already equally excited/panicked. Had several doubting-myself melt downs just thinking about it, but I’m starting to get going with work now and will share sneak peeks as I have them ☺️

Fox and Cubs are flowering again in our garden, and this cute little Halictus bee (with matching yellow/gold coloured legs) has found them. Looks like he’s enjoying himself 🧑

Pollinators such as wild #bees, #butterflies, and #hoverflies are in trouble worldwide. A major new study, published in Science, shows that the oft-quoted figure of 10% semi-natural habitat in farmland landscapes is far too little to safeguard pollinators
