The problem is that you are trying to make sense of the nonsensical.

If the goal is to legitimately compete for a Stanley Cup, what is the best route to that goal? Is it possible in the 1-2 years until Scheif/Hellebuyck/Morrissey/Connor start to really show their age? If not, should the Jets be moving the big pieces to position ourselves for 3-4 years down the road?

I agree that could and should are two different things. "Could" seems more like an article that would be up your alley. You expect that the Jets will be pretty conservative and only move inconsequential pieces, and I agree that this is likely. But does that really make sense?

Murat, I'd love to see a companion article where you lay out what the Jets COULD (or should?) do if they wanted to aggressively re-tool the lineup.
