The only reason I'm not flagging it as an outright scam right off the bat is that it seems to be a legitimate magazine ( although the practice is gross nonetheless) and I remember this being a thing in the concept art world (?).

Today the people at Beautiful Bizzare magazine posted one of my pieces and then contacted me to invite me to enter their art prize, which caught my attention due to their juicy cash prizes, until I saw the $40 entry fee. Having never participated in this corner of the art, is this normal?

Art Prizes that ask for a entry fee, scam yay or nay? I mean you'd have to put a gun to my head for me to pay $40 to enter a contest but I'm curious if this is standard at all or just one of those schemes aimed at gullible/ rich-parent-having artists
