But the entire production crew, director, everyone involved understood the assignment and just completely ignored MGM's directive lol god bless them every one.

I went to a screening of the original 35mm print a while back at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and they had a Q+A with the producer beforehand, it was absolutely fascinating. Apparently MGM originally wanted it to be a dorky rom com like Fastimes at Ridgemont High lmaoo can you imagine

Hackers was one of, if not the first, movie soundtracks to ever use almost exclusively techno so please respect that the Matrix and Blade both sit upon the shoulders of a giant
